  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

So I just turned 17 two days ago and today I just got the message in church today about tithing. Literally, an entire Sunday message about tithing. I just was wondering, and I know it's 10%(right?) you give to the church, but I still don't understand it really. Can anyone just give me any idea about how to tithe and how I should go about tithing, especially as a teen?

Teenage years are weird for tithing for sure! Do you have a job?
If so then YES I would suggest a 10% tithe as it is Biblical, however all throughout the New Testament you see people giving different amounts 100% In Mark 12 the widow gives a penny and Jesus is more happy about that than the people who tithe 50% of all they have.
It is important to tithe and I recommend doing it, HOWEVER as a teen it is also important not to only tithe financially, but TITHE 100% of your life to God. When you completely surrender to Him and His will, He begins to reveal things to you that only He could. So make sure that Your life is a true reflection of Gods love, and these things will come along with it! Live a Generous Life and have faith that God will provide what you need. Take a read of James 1! I think giving is a faith issue, people who are scared to give financially have not completely trusted God with their life! If you have full faith in God you know that He will provide so tithing wont even be an issue.
Hope this helped
