  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

The other sunday in church, our scripture reading was from Isaiah 9. In my King James Study Bible, there is a reference # in verse 3 ("...not increased the joy"). And the connotation has: Qr. increased.
There is no explanation given in the front of my Bible for this symbol and even have asked both my Pastors about this and are stumped. The only thought they had is that it might stand for the Qumran manuscript (dead sea scrolls).
I have done Google searches and couldn't find anything.
Anyone know for sure what Qr. stands for?

It stands for Qere. There is probably a KJV translation error here, reflecting a misunderstanding of how the Jews used the Hebrew Bible.

The NKJV has increased its joy in this verse with a note Following Qere and Targum; Ketiv and Vulgate read not increased joy; Septuagint reads Most of the people You brought down in Your joy.

For an explanation, see Qere and Ketiv - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
