Hello fellow Christians,

I was wondering about a simple exercise where you basically pretend to scoop a golfball with your chin (if you can picture it) and I wonder if I am allowed to perform it since it originates from Qi Gong. It seems to help me but I dont want to do it if its against the bible. What do you guys think?

Welcome to the forums. I don't personally see an issue with it. Much can be gained from using techniques that may originate in other world views or even religions. As long as there is not a religious intent, I don't personally see it any different than doing yoga or tai chi for exercise and relaxation.

I think because Qi Gong supposably can give people supernatural powers and since they dont belong to Jesus obviously they must have demonic origin right? You think yoga and taichi is ok?
Perhaps some people believe that, but if it is being practiced for exercise, relaxation, and so forth I personally don't see the harm. Yes, in general I do not see the issue in yoga and tai chi if they are also being used for exercise and relaxation. Both have a background in religion, and some people practice it as part of their religion, but if you are not doing it for that reason then the act of doing the exercises is different. The meditative aspects of yoga, tai chi, qi gong, etc. can certainly be used for meditating on Christian values and ideas.

Conversely, if you find that practicing it draws you away from God then you should not do it.

Honestly i would just like to do that one exercise cause i feel like it lowers my blood pressure still wondering if it is the right thing though
I'm not really in the place to give medical advice, I would talk to your pastor and maybe your doctor if you are concerned.

As to the practice, I don't see an issue, but if you do then there are probably similar breathing exercises that are not directly associated wit qi gong.

The Bible doesn't say anything about exercises involving your chin.

Maybe - but it sounds as though you are doing one simple exercise; not signing up to a whole new belief system.

Dunno, sounds like a drinking game to me.

Bible does teach to not drink to excess, unless you're poor, then it's okay.

In general, spiritual practices outside of Christianity have the tendency to connect you to the occult spiritual network. If that happens, good luck finding any Christian willing to help you. Probably best to stay away.

I can't find any claims of supernatural powers, so you are good to go.

This is never taught in Qi Gong, Thai Chi or Yoga(gym yoga)

I never heard of doing this in my 30 years of practicing Chi Gong, or Tai Chi.

Mostly, they're just exercises.
