My question for Stormy is 'what do you see as the purpose of the SDA Progressive movement in regards to the overall SDA church and to the individual SDA members'?

(Also, I have to give Stormy a endorsement as well as my vote, as from what I observed at BSDA.com he took every point and thrust of ideas with careful consideration, unending paticence, and well thought out responses...)

I think progressive is more of a way things are viewed than an actual movement per se. I say that because there is no uniform set of "beliefs" that you can say progressive adventists endorse, however the one consistent variable is the desire to question. Questioning everything that we as a church believe either for clarification, or to expose error, to consider alternative interpretations, or to confirm the belief.

When that is done, the effect is that people will know why they believe what they believe, or they will discard faulty interpretations, or they might even become less dogmatic about things that have no biblical basis..... These effects can happen individually and corporately......
