  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Has anyone else seen this movie? It's one of the craziest things I've ever seen. Usually I like weird movies, but this one seemed a bit pointless, and it was oddly unsettling to me. I've never quite had this reaction to a movie before. Just interested in what you all thought...

I think my problem was that I wasn't able to relate to it at all. There is one thing I will give it; this movie showed me that Adam Sandler can act. His character must have been a challenge to play, and he pulled it off brilliantly.

Lets just say I really dont' like Adam Sandler's movies but with Punch Drunk and 50 First Dates he's reclaimed himself with me. Punch Drunk Love proved he can actually act instead of making lame and really unfunny jokes and inuendoes in a movie. I thought the movie was funny throughout but that was only after seeing it 3 or 4 times. 50 First Dates looked at first like a regular Adam Sandler movie but after Punch I had to see if he had moved on. Most Sandler movies are horribly acted, really stupid, and pretty much pointless and I thought 50 First Dates was a funny movie with some fairly well acting. So maybe Sandler has gotten the hang of the acting thing, but then again maybe not if you've seen the disaster that is 8 Crazy Nights

When I saw this, I seemed to be the only one who liked it. I could relate to Barry's problems, other than the sister deal. He just can't seem to get a break and when he does fall in love his sisters bash him. They just don't want him to be happy. I thought this film was funny and seriously sad. I recommend you see this and try to really feel for Barry and understand his dilemma. 4/5
