Heck yeah, man. The Smashing Pumpkins are one of my favorites. If you really like Siamese Dream , you should really check out Mellon Collie and the Infinite Sadness . Even better than Siamese IMO. It's a double album (about two hours long), so it's a challenging listen, but there are really some great songs (Muzzle, Galapagos, Where Boys Fear to Tread, Stumbeleine, etc., etc., etc.)

YES!!! A truely great band. I have SD and MCIS, and I agree - you HAVE to get MCIS. It is not so easy to listen to as SD but it is an awsome album. Unfortunately they never became that big in the UK: 'Tonight, tonight' was their best performance and it only got to number 5 in the charts. I do not think they got another in the top ten.

Smashing Pumpkins still rock my world. After all these years, they still do it for me.

I forget, is the Drown on Rotten Apples the cut version? (ie, is it 4 min or 8 min?)

I'm listening to Untitled at the moment. Wonderful song, a great farewell gift.

Machina had some great stuff, and Friends & Enemies also. (Friends & Enemies of Modern Music was released solely on the 'net, and thus should be freely shared. If anyone wants some cuts, just pm me.

Tonight Tonight still rocks my world. It still gives me hope like no other.

Apparently, Billy Corgan's returning to his Catholic roots, too. www.billycorgan.com, on the Jan. 30th post.

I used to love the Pumpkins in their heyday of Siamese Dream. MCIS is great in parts (ie Bodies) some of it is absolute nonsense (We only come out at night - which is awful, a joke gone too far). I'm surprised no-ones mentioned Adore as I'd have to say it's a toss-up between Siamese Dream and Adore for their best album.

cheers,
Andy

I agree. Pumpkins were a very talented band. The only problem I have with them is that some of their songs seem to be album filler (I can overlook this, though). The depth of Corgan's writing is beautiful on songs like "Disarm" and "Tonight, tonight". I'm not positive, but I believe that Smashing Pumpkins broke up because of differences between band members (Iha and Corgan perhaps?), or maybe their later albums just weren't up to snuff.

Has anyone heard the singles that Zwan released? It makes me happy that Corgan can write happy tunes. It's a real downer that they broke up too.

You can catch James Iha in a Perfect Circle these days.
