  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Hun - eat whatever you want. There is no special food ritual.

Pray whatever is on your heart - there are no magic words with God.

Baptism is a symbolic showing of your faith in Jesus Christ. As He came down from heaven into the earth, willingly allowed himself to be put under ground for 3 days at the hands of men, before God raised him from the ground.

Likewise, you come down into the water, willingly allow yourself to be "dunked" under water at the hands of a man/woman (not for 3 days obv), before they raise you back up again from the water.

I firmly believe that it is not the baptism process that will save/cleanse you - but it is our God who has saved you through the death, burial, and resurrection of Jesus Christ.

And our God is more than able to save you no matter what you eat.

Absolutely agree! Water baptism is a public confession by you that you believe you need a Saviour and His Name is Jesus and not by process but by the heart.

God searches the heart, just believe on Jesus, who He is, what He did for us.

If you do a bible search on water baptism, you'll see and maybe think, 'This is too easy", but for some, it is hard to believe it that Jesus did it all for us, He made us right with God.

So no, eat what you like and praying from the heart is what touches God.

You are asking good questions, some people wouldn't even wonder or take the time to prepare for such an amazing event !

Everyone seems to have a different story on how their water bapstism impacted their lives, I can't wait to hear yours.

Baptism is by no works of yourself, but all works from God - there is nothing you need to do for your Baptism. You are a Child of God right now if you have ask Jesus into your heart and repented of your sins, that's all you need to do outside of walking this walk with Jesus, loving Him, praising Him, living close to His Word.

Just picture the Baptism as washing away your sins and making you white as snow. You've done your job - the rest is up to Jesus and the Holy Spirit to lead you up this Highway to Heaven. Your name is already in the Lamb's Book of Life and the Bible tells us that NO ONE can snatch you out of the hands of Jesus.

Just get ready to let the Joy of our Lord shine through and be the shining example that God will smile down upon.

Well, in the Orthodox Church, one must be catechized (educated in the faith) before they are baptized. It is a huge decision and it isn't made lightly. The priest will then get permission from the bishop to baptize and chrismate the catechumen. Usually, before baptism, the priest will tell the catechumen a prayer rule to follow, as well as preparing them for their first confession (which takes place before the baptism), and will give instructions for the fast one must go through before communing (every time they commune). Baptism and chrismation generally takes place right before communion is received for the first time, so the catechumen/newly illumined will be instructed to not eat or drink anything from the night before until the time they receive communion.

For example, my priest has recommended that those in my parish go to confession regularly, and every time there is a liturgy and we wish to receive communion, we must have fasted from all food or drink from midnight the night before (and we don't break the fast until after receiving). We are supposed to keep to our daily prayer rule, as well as saying the pre and post communion prayers.

Baptism is for the forgiveness of sins. It is more than a public confession. Believers are told to do it. It is a work of God that we submit to. Once one is baptized into Christ, they are part of the Body of Christ. In Christianity, communion is everything. For the Christian, everything can be related back to the Eucharist/the Body and Blood of Christ/the medicine of immortality. It is a very serious thing and shouldn't be taken lightly at all. Neither baptism nor communion are symbolic.

I made the mistake of trying out psychics. All they did was take my money and call demons to come posess me. It was not a good experience.

We are told in the bible not to seek out those who consort with mediums and familiar spirits. These cause nothing but trouble and are to be driven out of the land, cut off from their people, and even stoned to death.

Divination and astrology is likewise not harmless. Here you are relying on forces other God to guide you. These quickly become replacements for God. Moreover they are forbidden knowledge.

Signs and horoscopes do little more then enslave you. They are satans way of showing you the perfect weakness with which to control you.
