I ended my flight exhausted in a forest of cactuses, fell in my
knees and the sun pushed me into the ground.
There I remained quivering, covered by grime and dry blood,
waiting for the death to sooth my pain.
My Saviour came walking calmly, leading His flock of white
sheeps. He dressed a white linen that the desert dust could not
taint and shoed golden sandals. Happily He was going through
but I was not strong enough even to call for his help.
He did not need my strength; discovered me between the spines,
knelt by my side and took me in His arms. Maybe I was a child a
ten or perhaps so I looked before my Saviour, but He carried me
sweetly, like a sick lamb.
A minute later the Lord had taken me to a meadow and with love
let me resting on the grass. The he threw His rod and where it
fell clear water started to spring, soon becaming a celestial
lagoon, but my dry lips could not even thank.
My Saviour disrobed me of my ragged tunic, in his arms took me
to the water and on its surface let me naked. Seven hours I
floated on the calm waters without heat nor cold, without angst
nor toil.
Then my Lord dressed me in white linen, anointed my feet and
took me again but, this time, my arms were strong enough to
enclose His neck.
We walked for days by gentle ways, in the shadow of oaks and
orange trees but my Saviour never tired of my weight.
Later a chilling wind blew stripping the forest, making leaves
dance in blasphemous spirals. Hyenas surrounded us, birds flew
away and the sun stopped shining. I looked at my Lord, His eyes
were calmed and I knew nothing wrong would happen to me.
Finally, light returned and demons quietened. I discovered a
palace a my Saviour let my naked feet kiss the ground and, by
his hand I started walking.
Let's celebrate a feast, prepare a banquet because I have
recovered my lost boy, said my Abba to the doorkeeper. Crying I
entered in the New Jerusalem, my feet treaded on petals and
finally I arrived to my home where in the love of God I shall
remain for ever.
