• The General Mental Health Forum is now a Read Only Forum. As we had two large areas making it difficult for many to find, we decided to combine the Mental Health & the Recovery sections of the forum into Mental Health & Recovery as a whole. Physical Health still remains as it's own area within the entire Recovery area.

If you are having struggles, need support in a particular area that you aren't finding a specific recovery area forum, you may find the General Struggles forum a great place to post. Any any that is related to emotions, self-esteem, insomnia, anger, relationship dynamics due to mental health and recovery and other issues that don't fit better in another forum would be examples of topics that might go there.

If you have spiritual issues related to a mental health and recovery issue, please use the Recovery Related Spiritual Advice forum. This forum is designed to be like Christian Advice, only for recovery type of issues. Recovery being like a family in many ways, allows us to support one another together. May you be blessed today and each day.

Hi,
I've been taking 40mg of prozac daily for my OCD, and while it has helped it has caused my to constantly wake up during the night, and gives me near panic attacks if I drink caffeine.
My doctor is switching me to luvox, the transition takes 1 week. I take half my prozac in the morning, then half my luvox at night for a week and then take all of the luvox at night and no more prozac.
I guess my question is if anyone has tried both and what to expect? Did luvox make you lethargic? I've read that luvox causes the effects of caffeine to magnify many times, so it is not a good idea to drink caffeine while on it. I am fine cutting out caffeine if I have to, but it would be nice to have a coke or some coffee every once in a while, so have you had experience with this, is that true?
Thank you guys

I am not on that medication, but for me, I notice with OCD I cannot have any caffeine like chocolate, tea, coffee, etc., as I usually get a noticeable spike after consuming anything with caffeine. I have read that caffeine intake is linked to anxiety. Here is an article on it:

Hey, just an idea about a coke every once in a while that you want.. I am wondering if you could make a non caffeinated version yourself by using seltzer water, sugar to taste and some organic fresh fruit juice added in for flavor???

I tried Prozac at first. Loved it but it wasn't bumped up enough. Then I went on Zoloft loved it even more was like at 200 mg. Luvox I am taking now and I'm like meh. I don't like it. I need something for obsessions and OCD Luvox only tackles the OCD. So maybe it will be different for you maybe not you'll just have to ride the storm out and see how it goes.
