I have a real concern about the bible and how it seems so "complicated" to "understand" ...I know that one needs to believe that God exists and come to him in faith, I know that God "calls" us to have the desire to know him, He chooses us and we do not choose him. In the bible it's written that we should go out and make disciples from all the nations of the world, but why is it so difficult to explain the gospel to someone who doesn't have that desire from within to know him and why is it so easy to cast "doubt" on theories in the bible. For an example our religious leaders teach that Jesus is God but why doesn't the bible plainly state so? I know there's scriptures saying that God has blinded the eyes of those who don't believe and that his sheep knows his voice..but with regards to making disciples like the bible commands. why does it seem or why is it much easier to argue against the words in the bible than for it?

Two reasons.

1. Because we tend to go try to make disciples before we have been fully discipled ourselves.

2.Since God draws a man unto Himself, it isn't our job to draw them. When they seek (for they will not find until they do) THEN we can teach which is the essence of the Great Commission.

We need to take a little more weight off of "us" and let God do His work first. Much easier that way. :)

You're saying Jesus died for our sins?
Do you know if a person is wicked by nature of the flesh? Are you carnally minded and under the Law?

How can you interpret the Bible without the Holy Spirit but only say your own thoughts and quote men?

A large part of the confusion is artificial in that it is translated from other languages, and in some cases from Hebrew to Greek to English and it can become easy for things to be lost in translation. Another big part of it is that the Bible is written in a very different culture that is over 2000 years removed from ours. The Jews living in the 1st century wouldn't have needed to study the Jewish cultural context of the Bible and would have understood what Jesus said in their native language. We can see instances where Christ's audience clearly understood him, so he went about asserting his divinity over and over in a Jewish way, which his audiences clearly understood because they tried to stone him for it. We even need to study what it meant to be a disciple and to make disciples in the 1st century, which is much more than simply making new converts.

Maybe you should study the bible more, theirs enough people trying to convert people, and get a religious hat or something that says god or Jesus on it, then they will see your actions, I don't know if your in a place that has coffee shops, but maybe go in one have a coffee study the bible quietly everyone will know it's a bible.

I do not struggle in any area with understanding and believing the word of God...If I do not understand it, I believe it as truth. What I'm meaning is that when you discuss your faith with someone who doesn't believe what you do...and they ask strategic questions that's nearly impossible to answer using the exact source it comes from (The Bible)

We are commanded to preach the Gospel. See Acts 2 Acts 3 and Acts 17 for how the apostles did so. They did not wrench peoples arms to become believers. We are the messenger and the Holy Spirit is the Harvester.

Thank you for your sincere post. It's touched my heart!

Part of the problem comes from the leaders you are referring to, and how they misquote and even misinterpret Scripture.

Their wayward teaching has lead you to try and covert the wrong people with the wrong message.

It's not the Bible that's so easy to argue against, but the false interpretations thereof.

To give an example, have you ever heard that Paul and James are in contradiction with each other regarding the Law?

Let it not be so! I have found that they both teach what Christ taught. And see how easy it is to prove:

  • They both had the Holy Spirit.
  • The Holy Spirit is One with the Father and the Son.
  • So there can be no contradiction between anything the Spirit says and the Father or Son.

Simple, True, and you probably didn't even need me to tell you that.

Even though at times there may seem to be contradictions in Scripture, they arise from our lack of faith, and not what Scripture actually says.

Put another way: if you believe the teaching of a man and find that it makes Scripture seem to have a contradiction, then that teaching must be in error.

So where does that leave you?

2 Timothy 2:
15 Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.

Study. Learn Hebrew and Greek. Start with Strong's Concordance, it's for beginners. Get E-Sword, download the KJV+ with the Strong's Concordance readily available for study.

Don't forget to pray to Father in heaven. Matthew 6:5-13

Praise יהוה
