  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

There's this little book by Ronald E. Heine entitled, "Classical Christian Doctrine." I rather like it because it not only seems to concisely roll into one a basic history of the development of Christian doctrine that took place during the first few hundreds years of the Christian faith, but in in this book, Heine shows how the Nicene Creed---which is central to CF's paradigm---is itself a legitimate point of reference for Christians.

Just thought I'd mention this tiny-wincy bit of referential support for our Common Faith; it may be helpful to those who are new to Christianity or who may want to newly explore the development of early Christian Thought in tandem with how it plays into and supports, however indirectly, the unity and presence of all of us Christians here on Christian Forums.

Feel free to drop a comment or two if you like ...
