Listen to what your parents tell you to do and obey. If you do this you will gain wisdom and avoid the dangers of sin or folly. Chains are used to keep you from escaping, in this case, listening to the instruction of your parents/elders, you will stay away from trouble.

Proverbs 4:23 "Above all else, guard your heart, for it is the wellspring of life." &

Prov. 24:3,4 "Through wisdom a house is built; by understanding it is established: and by knowledge shall it's chambers be filled w/ pleasant and precious riches."
I like the quote about guarding your heart. I think that is so important. Often we give our heart's affections to things or people more than to God without realizing it. But I think when we love God with ALL our heart, everything else will fall into place and we will not be in danger of placing too much importance on other things.

Another verse from Proverbs 24 I like is #9 "the thought of foolishness is sin." It is so imperative that a Christian be careful of the things we dwell on in our mind. The proverb doesn't say 'the thought of SIN is sin' but the 'thought of FOOLISHNESS is sin.' When we do not try to avoid foolish thought patterns we sin.
