The straw man is the argument of invention. These writings show the "invention" argument for what it is.

I think that in all intellectual honesty one cannot know of these writings and then say that the Immaculate Conception or Assumption of Mary are inventions since that would imply the idea never existed.

The professors lamborgini time traveled, now if a cult were started based on finding the lost writngs of Marty Mcfly, would you say they based that of fiction-inventions of thought? IOW having an idea exist doesn't mean it lends credence AT ALL to the topic...Another good example, cold fusion.
Deal with facts it is a much safer arena, even your Pope calls this stuff ANATHMETISING.

Here's the thing Jack, Why would you use apocrypha nonsense without credible confirmation, which a first millennium Pope anathematized those who would associate to it.
Either you're choosing to be ignorant to historical facts or you don't care to get to the truth RATHER only to defend your point of view...I think you know that these false teachings have their origins in the false writings like this, and for you to acknowledge that would cause you great difficulty in balancing all things Catholic.

I have no problem balancing anything. I spent years fighting what I thought was wrong with Catholicism. The result is that I was wrong and now I know Catholicism is the One True Faith and protected by the Paraclete. I place my Life in this Body of Christ.

I appreciate your mission but I really need no saving. Jesus has taken care of that for me. Trust in Him as I have.

Brother, i never said you needed saving...From our personal conversations i am quite positive you are truly a brother in Christ in spite of some of the de fide teachings that fall under your churches mandate, i'd suggest your heart is saying stay where you are and your mind knows that the idolatry of the Marian doctrines are an offense both to the Lord and your own sensibilities. My trust is in the Lord and Him alone, as they say, "if He's not Lord of all He's not Lord at all."

how do you know it does not reflect one trajectory of that early tradition. with mythical hyperbole there is usually some truth. this is one of the earliest testimonies we have that very early on Christians did not believe Jesus to have blood siblings.

Yes, even writings like this can contain some truth. I, too, saw the connection to Jesus having no blood siblings.
