This doesn't offend me at all. I think the design is ugly, but pretty cool how the exploding cloud bit links the two towers.

I think it does look a bit like the two towers. Not because they are two towers but because they sort of look like two towers exploding. That being said I don't care if they built it. I think it looks really cool.

I think that it is completely legitimate to be offended by things other countries do though.

But to be offended by two skyscrapers of all things, I would understand if it had text that was offensive to say a group of people.

I suppose I'd have to say that it was insensitive. It seems a bit like a celebration of that which ought not to be celebrated. Maybe their next design will be based on the gas chambers in Auswich. Tasteful.

So is some Americans use of the term "Ground Zero" to describe the twin tower's site offensive?

I mean, it's taken from the term used to describe the point at which an atomic bomb explodes, and therefore is linked to Hiroshima and Nagasaki (where many hundreds of times more people were killed or injured than in 9/11)

It doesn't look a bit like the Twin Towers after they got hit. They collapsed from the top down. Before that, there was some smoke and fire, but nothing like this. Also, the facades are all wrong to be the WTC.

But they aren't just two random skyscrapers, they do sort of look like explosions out of twin towers. I'm not saying anyone SHOULD be offended though, just that it makes some sense.

Towers are towers. There are only so many ways for architects to make them look interesting- and they all pretty much wind up looking the same anyway. Some people love to complain.

Showed the picture to my wife. She thought they looked ugly AND reminded her of the twin towers.
Having lived in Korea, I can attest to the awful, boring, and static designs of the apartment buildings there. Who sees anything interesting in ANY of these complexes:

It's soul crushingly ugly/dull. I still say they look rad and I would hope they would build them (though by now it's certainly doubtful)

Maybe their next design will be based on the gas chambers in Auswich.

Or maybe they could find a different American tragedy instead. Everyone is out to get y'all anyways.

If I hadn't known about the comparison, and had heard the discription as clouds surrounding tall buildings, I could have seen where the architect was going. The whole thing reminded me of an How I Met Your Mother episode where a famous architect designed a building basically resembling male genetalia, and everyone else saw the resemblance except for him.

We coined the phrase. We can use it as we like. Next time a pair of Dutch or Korean towers are destroyed by suicide pilots, they can feel free to build structures such as those planned.

I like the wobbley looking tower to the left of them as well.
