Not literally prophetic, but I have had over a dozen dreams in my later teen years for a couple years(in my early 20's now) of events with conversations that occurred in the somewhat near future. I was wondering if anyone else experienced this. I am talking about dreams of events that occur in not normal locations with conversations of friends/acquaintances occurring in exact form in real life as they did in a dream. I believe this is telling me that god knows and sees all and is a message to me that god is real. Has anyone else had similar occurrences? What does anyone else think of these occurrences?

Hi Jothman,

Welcome to the D&V sub-forum & thanks for posting.

Has anyone else had similar occurrences?
I have had a few of these kind of experiences. There are a number of people on the sub-forum who have them.

What does anyone else think of these occurrences?
There was one case where what happened concerned me personnaly and it was not what someone said but what they did. In the dream I didn't see who it was. But the next day what was in the dream happened. What they did would normally have been a major problem for me, but because I knew about it in advance, the enemy was not able to use it like they would have otherwise.

So in this case I see it an God preparing me & protecting me by telling me about something in advance.

On another occasion what was illustrated in the dream was a little more symbolic but I saw the person involved. In the dream he told me he had no money & there were other parts of the dream that suggested some kind of deception. I prayed that God would expose any deception involved & protect this person & their finances. I knew him well & that he wouldn't think receiving something like this in a dream was too weird, so I told him about it & said to be watchful. Shortly after this he reported that a friend of his "happened" to be visiting the work-place of a business acuantance. His friend saw that without his permission & knowledge, this business acquaintance was copying & building a prototype for a product which he had invented.

In this case I see it as God revealing the information to me for prayer - to pray about it so that a deception could be exposed & so my friend could know something important & be protected (financially).

I believe this is telling me that god knows and sees all and is a message to me that god is real.
Sounds good to me. Did you become a Christian after these dreams? These kind of things are nice confirmations to have. The main souce of evidence we have that God is real is the creation & the bible - God's word to us & revelation of what He is like & what He desires from us. Do you think there might be some next step for you in responding to these kind of dreams?

As Christians believe that God's revelation of Himself to manknid is fulfilled in Jesus, and of course we read & hear preaching about Jesus from the bible. What God desires is that we believe He is real based on His word from the bible. Dreams can come & go, but God's word in the bible remains constant & is solid. We can build our lives on it.

I have had very few deja vu's, but seemed to have more the first year I was a Christian. I don't know why, other than the explanation you gave -- that God was showing me there was more to life than what I saw in front of me. A supernatural realm.

While prophecy makes sense to me, deja vu's don't. They are like folds in time. I believe that God can see all variables and how they could play out in the future, but we still make choices that redirect our paths. Sometimes bad choices. So it's confusing that a scene, another person, a timing... could all be predicted.

We also see that on those angel reports on TV. Children seeing things that later prevent an accident.

God tells us things in advance when He sees we might suffer from dangers. We can pray, prepare, act wisely, and understand a situation better when we face it.

In God's way of doing things, giftings are meant to be used and shared with each other. When we give from what we have -- whether insights or talents or resources, we all benefit. Sometimes God will give one person a message for another, to reinforce and confirm.

In the parable of the talents (currency), the servants had choices in what they did with them. Hoarding and protecting -- keeping what God gives you for yourself -- leads to stagnancy. Allowing it fluidity and life and movement will benefit you, the giver, and other people.

I have to confess that I am not always open with the messages God gives me -- sometimes out of discretion, sometimes because the message does not seem to apply to other people. But the point is, move in love. See how God gives, and continue that generosity outward, with messages He has given you.

well I haven't had any prophetic dreams but interestingly enough an Evangelical Preaher came to our college and spoke about enabling this kind of thing through prayer at nighttime...letting God enter into our dream sphere as such.
I haven't tried it but you might like to give it a go and see what happens.

HOW TO PRAY FOR EIGHT HOURS A DAY
CONSECRATE YOUR TIME OF SLEEP

INTRODUCTION

When we pray at night, before we go to sleep, we usually finish our prayers with an Amen.

In a sense, we are saying to God, “Over and out God, I’ll make contact again in the morning.”

The Lord has shown me that we can consecrate our time of sleep, and use it as an opportunity for considerable spiritual growth.

The only reason why it is easy to pick out the voice of our spouse or children in a crowd is because we are so used to hearing their voices. If you have only spoken to a person once or twice, it is much more difficult to pick out their voice when a lot of people are speaking at the same time. Many people have asked me, “How is it possible to hear God speaking to us?” The answer is quite simple. Listen to what He has to say to you. For many Christians, when it comes time to pray, it is they that do all the talking, and when they have finished, they say ‘Amen’. Little time is spent in quiet meditation. We live in a very busy age, and the spiritual art of spending a significant period of time to hearing from God is not commonplace.

So here is your opportunity of setting aside your time of sleep to hear and receive what the Lord has in store for you.

THE PRAYER

Dear Lord, I pray that my bed will be an operating table tonight. I pray that you will be the surgeon, and I trust you to minister to me throughout the hours of this night. May the sleep that you give me be the general anaesthetic. May your holy angels watch over me and minister to me according to your will. I sign my name on the consent form for whatever part of my life that you decide to touch with your life-changing grace tonight. I thank you Lord for hearing my prayer, and I will say ‘Amen’ first thing in the morning.

AMEN. I thank you Lord for ministering to me throughout the night, and I pray now to be filled with the Holy Spirit so that I may be strengthened to live this day in faithfulness to you.

Please feel free to include at times in your nightly prayer the following:-

Dear Lord, you know the problem that I have at the moment …...(state what it is and how you feel about it). Please Lord, will you grant me the .. .(courage, wisdom, healing, strength, peace, forgiveness, patience etc) that I need for this situation. I thank you Lord for hearing my prayer and saying ‘Yes’ to me.

Like I said, I haven't tried it and in honesty I am alittle skeptical (Not about Prophecy which I do think happens, but about the idea of praying into prophesy) but I thought you would like to at least hear about it :0)

“How is it possible to hear God speaking to us?” The answer is quite simple. Listen to what He has to say to you.
(-:

Nice prayer. I like seeing prayers written out, because we get so rushed and inundated with information, that our thoughts naturally get very scattered.

About being skeptical... God hears our prayers when we're waking, so He will hear our prayers about sleep time. Very often He works in a subtle way, measuring with plumb lines, building sure foundations before we see a real structure come into sight.

Normal dreams tend to be healing in nature, so the prayer aligns with the way God created our bodies and minds. We can get a lot of emotional healing without conscious effort.

The prayer itself is not a guarantee of prophecies -- it is a request and invitation for God to do something through us. I often find that when I bother to ask, that's when He starts working, and I am embarrassed that I hadn't before.

Prophetic information comes when it is needed for a specific event or decision. There is always something going on that God could address, but it's good to think of prophecy as having concrete reason for being conveyed to us. It shouldn't be seen as an end in itself (Yay I have one), but for the benefit of preparing for and improving the real situations coming.

Being deported to Babylon. Seeing the temple destroyed. Knowing about a worldwide flood.

As a person who has had over 7 years of visions I can say it started when I was seeking the Holy Spirit and has not been a lifetime thing. However God has given me many other gifts at different times for different reasons. I am now in a prophetic teacher gifting and am writing books, studies, and commentaries.
