This is true, but I've listened to various non-politicians--economists, and so on--who have appeared on a number of financial news channels, and none of them felt anything but that the American tax on corporations is way too high and hurting the country. We could say that they are all oriented towards corporations, business, or the like, but it seems like they'd at least address this issue you refer to if it were a significant offset.

Not having political experience...is a major plus. But he is a leader, with a track record of seceding against all odds. If anyone could balance the budget, he could. And lol at "unverifiable insults." You want to verify that Trump insults people a lot? Read his Twitter! Or look up what he's said about John McCain, Carly Fiorina, Hillary Clinton, Barack Obama, and like every other politician in the country.

The fact that he's vehemently anti-vaccination, and has had ample time and opportunity to actually bother to research the issue, proves that he is too darned stupid to be President. Or, you know... to be anything. I wouldn't elect him for literally any position.

I mean, yeah, he has all these other completely unreasonable opinions, but it seems to me that none are as stupid as being anti-vaccination. As someone with lots of public influence, he has a duty not to spread views needlessly endangering the immunocompromised, children and the elderly.

How much do we even know about his fiscal policy? He wants to increase military spending without touching Social Security or Medicare, all while cutting taxes. (The military, Social Security, and Medicare dwarf the rest of the federal budget.) Even if Congress goes along with everything he wants, how is he going to balance the budget while doing all that? Has he ever given a specific answer? I'm not saying he's deliberately lying: There's a good chance he doesn't know what's in the federal budget, given his history of doing no research before spreading huge falsehoods he could've falsified with a Google search (e.g. that Romney won the popular vote "by a lot" in 2012, plus the examples I mentioned in the OP).

Oh oh, I don't play that name-calling game, my friend, so I'll just point out that there is a reason people are reluctant to vote for a Muslim.

We are at war with Islamofascism at the moment. This may not matter much to you, and the President isn't acting terribly concerned about it, but the American people care--and it's they who were polled. It would take someone who's not been paying much attention..or someone with an ideological axe to grind here, to be so out of touch as to think, categorically, that a reluctance to vote for a Muslim under today's circumstances could not possibly be anything but religious prejudice.

Plus like I mentioned, most Republicans wouldn't vote for a homosexual or an atheist either. I don't think you could come up with a reasonable excuse for that.

So... how exactly is socialism "fundamentally flawed?" Canada and the UK (among many others) seem to be doing quite well with the socialist elements of their governments. (So well, in fact, that the "welfare states," as they're called, typically have longer life expectancies, better quality of life, better paying jobs, etc than America.)

That's basically what Sanders is advocating: turning America into a welfare state. It seems to work for the UK and them; why not us? Is it because the billionaires in the Republican party are afraid to lose some of their cash?

EDIT: I'm not trying to continue Hawkeye's attempt at a derail. I'm just curious about the logic (or lack thereof) in the statements about socialism.

But seriously, anyone with an ounce of wisdom can see that Trump's an either an idiot or out solely for himself. He thinks that Mexico will be taken in by his "charisma" or his confidence and pay for that wall? No- they're gonna refuse, and the only way he'd be able to make them pay for it would be by mobilizing troops into Mexico. Yeah. War. War against MEXICO. That would be pointless and extremely expensive. He'd be throwing away money, and more importantly, lives.

He also thinks that he doesn't have to know what the elite military units of other nations, particularly enemy ones or potential enemy nations, are called, and he's not an idiot? He thinks he has enough strategic ability to command our fighting forces despite having no experience whatsoever, and that doesn't make him an idiot? He thinks ignoring diplomatic niceties and infuriating other nations, potentially leading us into war with China, Iran, or God knows what other nations, is acceptable, and that doesn't make him an idiot?

Yeah, sounds like a complete cretin to me. Either that, or he's using this as a means to an end.

I'll agree with that much.

Don't get me wrong, I do not think the man would be a competent leader. He's not an idiot, but I think his understanding of policy and diplomacy are negligible at best. He's hinging his campaign on an inflammatory persona that is simply not viable in today's geopolitical climate.

The sad fact is, he's winning the approval of undecided voters because they are largely uninformed. He's a recognizable face due to his business success, and—even more sadly—his involvement with The Apprentice. He's drawing on the defiance of the uninformed electorate, and it makes for a potentially dangerous cocktail should he succeed.

I'm intrigued by the concept of a professional executive taking the office in the Executive Branch of the government, but Trump's rhetoric is far too irrational and flagrant to be considered worthy of the dignity that surrounds the Oval Office. Even my parents, consummate conservative Republicans, agree with me wholeheartedly that Trump is a cartoon character and shouldn't be participating in the race.

There are Republican candidates that I, a (conservative) Democrat, would accept. I think Carson is an intelligent individual, though sometimes I wonder if he has the energy to serve as President. I like his demeanor, because I share it, but I'm not sure how well an introverted individual can function in todays political climate (domestically and internationally). That being said, if he were to win, I would accept him.

Another is John Kasich. I realize at this point he's all but disappeared from the polls, but he's another even-tempered and rational thinker on the GOP roster that I would feel comfortable having in office.

I've resolved to do my best not to disparage candidates from other parties. I really believe America needs to break free from the two-party system like Washington originally envisioned country. Even if Bush, Cruz or Rubio were to make it into the White House, I would be concerned on certain levels, but I would not join in the mindless barrage of baseless insults like people hurl at past Presidents and our current President.
