Could the guy who's dominating Republican polls (and people who lean Republican approve of by two-to-one) be dumber than a sack of bricks? I think so!

  • After Obama won the last election, he called it a "sham" and demanded a "march on Washington" to cancel it.
  • He said "The concept of global warming was created by and for the Chinese in order to make U.S. manufacturing less competitive." Even if global warming isn't real, the idea that China somehow conned almost every climate scientist in the world into accepting it, without even one of them stepping forward and telling us about it, is just crazy.

  • He called America "the most highly taxed nation in the world," when people in Denmark (the happiest country in the world, followed by a bunch of other socialist countries) are taxed twice as much as Americans, because we have lower taxes than almost every other first world country. If he wants to be President, he should know something about America in comparison to other countries. Maybe he should've gotten some political experience before running for President!

  • On August 23rd, 2012 (and many other times), he blamed the increase of autism diagnoses (crucially, actual cases might not've increased!) on too many vaccines. He is utterly wrong, and delaying vaccines is a terrible idea. He seems to know the scientific consensus is completely against him, yet he still rejects it—despite not being a scientist—because he thinks all their studies are "fudged."

  • He said on July 9th of this year that he still doesn't know where Obama was born because "I don't know why he wouldn't release his records"—even though Obama released his long-form birth certificate in 2011! Trump™ must know that, since he gave himself credit for it at the time, after launching a very public "investigation" into Obama's birth. He even pubicly said he would donate $5 million to charity if Obama's birth certificate was ever released (which is strange since he doesn't accept it as evidence). Apparently his ”investigation“ never turned up the fact that multiple Hawaiin newspapers announced his birth in 1961. (Crucially, even if Obama was born in Kenya like Trump seems to think, he would still be a natural-born citizen because his mom was an American—something Trump should know by now.)
85% of Republicans say they would support Trump if he got the Republican nomination. I respect Republicans, and I know a lot of them don't know some of the information I just posted (like I didn't before a few days ago), but... really? What are they thinking—"anyone but a Democrat"? Would they vote for a dead cat over Hillary?

NOTE: I'm saying Trump is stupid about political issues. Maybe he's a genius about running casinos or something; that doesn't make him smart at everything else. Arthur Conan Doyle was a brilliant writer (or so I've heard), but he also thought fairies were real and Harry Houdini had magic powers. Plenty of people are smart at one thing and idiotic when it comes to another.

Intelligence doesn't seem to be a prerequisite. Barack Obama thought there were 57 states and acknowledged his Muslim faith. He still got elected.

It's his positions which count ... usually focusing on the economy.

I wouldn't vote for an idiotic candidate even if I agreed with all their major positions, since there's a very serious risk they'd do something idiotic and disastrous (probably many things).

The Republicans have worked so hard to get their base to distrust experts and ignore facts, that this is the inevitable result.
ROTFL ... because the Arab Spring has worked out so well for the brilliant Democrats?

I wouldn't vote for an idiotic politician even if they completely agreed with me, since there's a very serious risk they'd do something idiotic and disastrous (probably many things).
I take it you've never supported Obama?

Your non sequitur is a good reminder that the Republicans have also not been very assiduous at fostering critical thinking and logic.

The Arab Spring was strongly encouraged by Barack Obama ... if not outright facilitated by Obama administration actions.

I never fully supported Obama, since he's waaaaay to my political right, but I did prefer him to Romney.

My, what power the POTUS has!
The actions and inactions of the head of the most powerful nation on the planet can have profound consequences.

You're confusing Trump's demeanor with his intelligence. He is VERY accomplished (no idiot).

And it is his demeanor of calling things as he see them, even when not politically correct, that has him running high in the poles. We would all like to do that, to honestly just say what we are already thinking.

What he is doing...is long overdue.

I love his irreverence; it's not why I think he's an idiot. He's an idiot because he says idiotic things, some of which I listed in the first post.

Saying idiotic things doesn't make someone and idiot. In spite of all of what you point out, he has proven to be no idiot. A tree is known by its fruit...not its rhetoric. :)
