Actually, the Summoner Geeks video isn't by the Dead Alewives. Their recording was used, but it was set to a video acted out by characters from the Red Faction and Summoner video games at a much later date.
Oh, sorry, I was confused by you saying that the skit was called "Summoner Geeks".Correct, I said the skit was by the Dead Alewives. And told her to look at the videos to see what it was about. I didn't attribute the videos to them.
first, i found it sick that the OP link use Columbine as an example. the media basicly point at the first thing they can use to blame.
They do? Believe it or not, the media isn't allowed to obtain search warrants and enter people's homes to investigate sources of homicidal behavior. They have to depend on what authorities such as the police say about what they find.
But the police have to mention all things that are possible.
TriptychR and WhirlwindMonk there is another reason why video games are blamed for these problems so much, most of the supporters are not gamers so they take the escape goating at face value afterall there not blaming the problem on them. While the media may gain these antivideo game advocay groups attention they were around long before these incidents occured.
No they don't; not immediately. Investigations are always "pending" or they are "not willing to say at this time." So the media can only report what it can at a given time.
Now, media pundits may take those things and run with them if they want to talk about something on their "news" shows and other people can overreact accordingly. There's no helping that. But please don't take that backlash as part of real reporting.
In fact, as a smalltown reporter in the area where New York state recently held its largest manhunt in history for Ralph "Bucky" Phillips, I've had the opportunity to compare local news to national news on the same subject. The verdict? National news often immediately gets it wrong. And glaringly so.
On the day Phillips was caught, the state police held a press conference and CNN, MSNBC, Fox News, etc. was there. The question repeatedly came up over the shots that were fired when an officer spotted the fugitive. The Supt. of State Police repeatedly said that Phillips did not fire at the officer; he only raised his gun at him, but the officer fired the shots in response to seeing the gun and Phillips had no time to squeeze off any rounds of his own.
Ten minutes later on MSNBC: "NY State Police call for more backup after fugitive fires at officer."
Don't trust all the networks have to say with "breaking news." But as long as people want their news "up-to-the-minute," they're going to run off and overreact to mistakes.
I suppose I should apologize, I generally try to not use such general terms. What I was saying before I was refering to the national news stuff, like you mentioned. I did not intend to say that all the media is corrupt, stupid, or biased.
i dont like pokemon
Some of the readers will no doubt protest, "it's only a game!" To be sure it is a game, but a game that does not glorify God! When God says something is wrong, it is wrong regardless of what form it is in. Not only that, but many of the kids who play this game are seduced into believing the principles that the game subtly teaches.
I disagree there E, Jesus advises against making money an idol not against getting it. However the general premise of your post is right on! I just like Monopoly, and business. I like business too.Ok have you ever played monopoly before in your life No Where in the bible does it say the goal of your life should be to collect a ton of money heck jesus advises us against it. and yet everyone in the world has probably played monopoly a million times does this mean that subtly we are all trying to build hotels on Board walk and Parkplace heck no games are health and I would even say that pokemon is a especially good example of a game that supports good morals.
