I think I've seen things posted here about this organization, but can't remember if it was good or bad.

I was reminded about this group by Dr Tony Evans, who participates and speaks at their events occassionally.

I seem to remember reading negative posts about them. Why? What are they doing that is wrong? What do they do?

God Bless!

I dunno that I could take an offense against an organization that teaches men to be men of their words...men of integrity and honor...

Oh well...I'm sure someone has something against them somewhere...

Is that what they do? I honestly don't know. I found their website, but it wasn't too clear.

I have seen good and bad things. They would be a horrific match for me; their view of what a relationship should be like would not match mine, and trying to impose it on us would make both of us miserable. I like the focus on responsibility, but I don't think the very strong gender role assertions are necessarily what God wants for everybody all the time...

I've been to a Promise Keeper conference and I must say that it was life changing. To me, this organization tries to help men become Biblical men, as in what the Bible says a man should do...love his wife as Christ love the church, be a spiritual leader and so on.

I thought it was a great experience that I would do again. I think I almost got a small glimpse of what it could be like to be singing at God's throne. When 18,000 men were singing Amazing Grace acapella, I thought the Lord was going to come back right then. Amazing experience in the Lord more than anything else.

Of course there are going to be people who are against it. There were people against Jesus.

I know it's for men only...but the price I would pay to have been close enough to just hear that many men singing praises to God...must have been a beautiful, joyful sound to His ears....

Stuff like that moves me to tears....just the love for the Lord that's behind it all...God is so GOOD!

I have friends whose husbands went to promise keepers and they said it saved their marriages. Not in the sense that they were at the verge of dicvorce and promise keepers kept it from happening, but in the sense that their husbands were reluctant to be the men they needed to be to the family, and promise keepers taught them how to change from being just another member of the household to being partners with their wives, co-leaders of their family, actively working for the best interest of the family, not just their own best interest or the best interest of their employer.

I get a lot of requests from Africa and Asia for promise keepers materials, because men all over the world want to learn how to be the men God designed them to be for the benefit of God and their families.

The music was my favorite part. We sang songs like God of Wonders and Did You Feel the Mountains Tremble, plus many many more. Maranatha was completely awesome. We even sang the old Bob Dylan song, "You're gonna serve someone." But I got the same feeling as Amazing Grace when we all sang, acapella once again, How Great Thou Art. I forgot to mention that during Amazing Grace, during a little break in the song, some guy yells out "I love You Jesus!" That hit me hard, and really that's what it's all about.

Are there no woman conferences like Promise Keepers?

As sinners (even though we are saved by grace), we still have old nature along with new nature in us so that we will not be able to run a "perfect Church". So, with an organization like Promise Keepers, it will not be perfect. However, the intend is wonderful. There's more pros than cons. (I agree with most of their intends and concepts however there are some minor issues that I don't agree so this organization passes my criteria)

If you know a perfect church or perfect Christian organization, please let me know.
