We need to have a link to direct people to the Progressive, Moderate and Former Adventist New Forum. It would be nice to have a permanent sticky or something to let people know about the other Adventist related forum

I read RC's post in the other forum and thought it was a little strange, but if they want to sticky a link for us I would be game to return the favor.

Might be something we want to vote on or by reaching a consensus about.

But we should get some input from some others here.

are you going to have a sticky to our forum? that way people can see how traditionals believe?
Yes that is a good idea however it will not matter for a while as right now we want to let it be known that there is the new forum.

How would you exactly define a progressive vs Moderate vs Traditional SDA's?
(Hope it's okay to jump in here)

The main distinction tends to be on the Traditional side. A Traditional Adventist is one who agrees with all 28 fundamental beliefs of the Adventist church. A progressive or Moderate does not. :) Does that help?

CrimsonSky, does not the definition of a Trad Adventist involve a bit more though, like specific ways in which they tend to interpret the 28 and apply them?? Would it not be accurate to state that a Trad Adventist also adheres to certain other distinctive matters not directly or expressly expounded in the 28?

As per this forum's FSG's, I think it's just the 28 fundamentals in general. :) See what Red posted here: http://christianforums.com/t7150973-who-is-a-member-and-how-can-a-non-member-post.html

I assume agreeing with them means agreeing with how they are described. I don't think it goes too far beyond that..

Not that I'm around here much anymore to see what goes on, but that's my interpretations of the FSG's.

I feel like an old-time SDA. Pro-EGW, pro-perfectionism Adventist.

Would I be a 1800's SDA? I don't know.

You'd be one of the "knee sock crowd". :D
Seriously, it believes the term generally in use for those bes "historic" Adventists. The Standish-follower types?

I think you'd fit into Traditional. :) I don't see that as being Moderate or Progressive.

Nonetheless, welcome! Try not to let all of these subcategories bother you, it's more just a way to try and stop arguing between SDA's of different perspectives.

happy, the more appropriate response would be to ask that we add a link. it bes not aware that no one had done this yet and does not have admin powers to sticky or anything, but it would be happy to rectify the matter.

one of the primary skills in conflict solving and conflict avoidance bes to not immediately ascribe the worst-case-scenario to others' motives. assume the benefit of the doubt first -- the generous assessment based on mercy and putting the other in the best light -- and proceed from there. if their motives bes more sour than that, time will certainly tell -- but if it bes an innocent mistake or whatnot, we can create a lot of unnecessary grief and "bad blood" by assuming the worst from the get-go.

i went over and looked in there forum. i saw nowhere where there is a link directing people to this forum for another side of adventism.

Since no one made this yet, Moriah took it upon itself to do so. If it has any terminology wrong or if you folks would like to offer corrections or edits to the language describing yourselves, please feel free to either clarify in that thread or just PM Moriah (you have to send blessing if you bes not on its buddy list) with your suggestions and changes. Moriah believes very strongly in allowing individuals and groups to identify THEMSELVES and describe THEMSELVES as THEY know themselves to be rather than having "outsider" colorings being imposed on them (Moriah knows firsthand how much that can HURT and MISREPRESENT and would NOT want to be a cause of that) so PLEASE do not hesitate to speak up if it has misspoken anything in that thread or in any way described you guys and your forum inaccurately. It would not be intentional.
