To me there is a difference between being confident, and being prideful. But even setting those differences aside, it's how we are perceived that is more at issue. We may not think we are being prideful when we are!
Pride was the first sin, and I am beginning to believe that behind all our sins, no matter what the sin itself is, is pride.
We keep doing what we know God doesn't want us to do, WHY? because we want to...that's pride.
We live our lives without asking God to help until we get ourselves in a situation, and then it's "Help me God" and we get mad when He doesn't.
We constantly forget everything God has done for us and this has been before Christ came on the scene even. That is why they were instructed by God to have all these festivals etc., because otherwise and even still they would FORGET about God.
The gospel is about grace, and about getting something we don't deserve, that we could not afford, which is our salvation. But some of us, still think we know better than God and we continue to live our lives as if God is supposed to sit on the sidelines and watch. In the end, God wins and people ARE humbled. I think we should work on this now. What do you think?
