Just as more and more doctors have come to know and understand about proper nutrition and supplementation in order to prevent illness, so are more Christians starting to know and understand the power of speaking God’s Word. It is God’s Word, when correctly divided, which will prevent many sicknesses from attaching themselves to an individual.
In the natural, there are many antioxidants a person can take in tablet or capsule form. Some are also available in liquid or power form, or in tea.
The purpose for antioxidants is to counter the impurities that a person in subject to – in the air, in water, in food – and to eliminate them from their systems on a daily basis. It also helps their immune system to be strengthened against the attacks of illness and disease.
God’s Word is medicine to our soul. There are impurities being spoken every day, and we need to have protection against them. In the same way in which a person can be protected through vitamins and other supplementation in the natural, they can be protected spiritually through supplementation of God’s Word, ingesting it daily – by speaking it aloud.
A good place to start with this is the spiritual armor found in Ephesians 6:10-18. As we “put on” our spiritual armor each day, we are preparing for the warfare of the day ahead. The enemy of our soul, the devil, doesn’t quit. There is a warfare we need to fight and win daily.
When sickness comes, we don’t have to accept it – if we’ve been doing all we know to prevent it. We’ve been eating right most of the time, drinking plenty of purified water, getting adequate rest, exercising, and meditating on God’s Word.
We’ve kept our lives free of sin, daily examining ourselves to see what needs to be confessed to the Lord. When symptoms of sickness then come, we are able to resist the devil and he will flee from us.
We’ve already submitted to God. We’re protected and strengthened, as we’ve built up our spiritual immune systems. We’ve spoken faith-filled words into the spirit realm, and we are shielded from the fiery darts of the enemy.
One of the pieces of the armor is the sword of the spirit, the Word of God. It is the only piece of offensive armor listed in Ephesians 6. When God’s Word is spoken by faith into the spirit realm, the angels go to work on our behalf. See Psalm 103:20 (KJV).
To meditate on God’s Word, we are not only to think on it, but also to speak it out. See Strong’s #1897. As we do this regularly, these words become a part of us. We have a healthy immune system, able to resist the devil’s attacks.
Personalizing certain key verses is what works. There are 100s of verses on healing. The ones I use might not be the ones that God give you to use. Just as David could not wear Saul’s armor (because it was too big and didn’t fit David), so are we to not try to wear another person’s armor.
As we each pray and ask the Father which verses to meditate on, and fast as He leads us, and give where and when He says to give, we will have the victory over sickness and disease and infirmity.
What if we’re already sick? God’s Word still works. In the natural, when a person is sick, a doctor prescribes medicine. Maybe they’re told to take it 2-3 times a day. So, if the person is sick, they’ll need to double up on taking the prescription of God’s Word.
For those on several medications, they need to spend even more time in mediating on God’s Word and in prayer. Strongholds of the enemy have been built in their imaginations. These need to be pulled down, so that healing can take place. 2 Corinthians 10:4-5.
