And other taxpayers are for it. If you've got the votes then you win--but that's the only reason. Phony arguments about bias don't cut it.I'm against tax payers paying for it.
Your opinion is noted. However, you offer nothing beyond a personal reason why you feel you should not fund it.I'm a taxpaing US citizen and I don't watch or read PBS/NPR, if a person enjoys it then they should fund it through viewer subscriptions and donations, keep the taxpayer out of it
Defund PBS/NPR Keep The Taxpayer Out Of It
I have not found that to be the case. I have found very few places where I can find travel shows of the likes of Rick Steves or Rudy Maxa other then PBS. Likewise with Nature, Nick on Rocks, Finding your Roots and other such educational programs. The topics you view can be found a LOT of various places. Music, travel, animals and just about anything else.
I am asking why you are against tax payers paying for it. What is your objection to it other then your claim there is no need?Like I said, I'm not against PBS or NPR. I'm against tax payers paying for it. There is NO NEED for it. None. Its one place we can cut and it would harm no one.
But these shows can be found on their websites.I have not found that to be the case. I have found very few places where I can find travel shows of the likes of Rick Steves or Rudy Maxa other then PBS. Likewise with Nature, Nick on Rocks, Finding your Roots and other such educational programs.
"False"Your opinion is noted. However, you offer nothing beyond a personal reason why you feel you should not fund it.
There arent any phony arguments. Just like the arguments for the reasons yo keep it aren't phony. And like you said, the one with the most votes wins. At this point we are the ones who won. So we want to cut the taxpayer payments. And other taxpayers are for it. If you've got the votes then you win--but that's the only reason. Phony arguments about bias don't cut it.
You can watch on YouTube and Prime. There are tons of natire videos on almost ever streaming service, cable, satellite and Roku. There is no need is the BEST reason to not fund it. Its the first rule in budgetary wisdom. Especially when we are deficit spending. Cutting programs that seriously offer no benefit, because we have tons of other options that are not paid for by the taxpayers just is common sense.I am asking why you are against tax payers paying for it. OK. Thank you. So if there IS a need for it, say if there was some benefit to be found from it that can not be found in other programing, would that be sufficient in your mind to keep it's funding? There is no need is the BEST reason to not fund it. The political aspect of NPR is a secondary reason as taxpayers shouldn't be paying for a politically biased news organization. We might as well be funding FOX News.
As I said, Trump was lying to you. You can't simply make up a figure and say 'Hey, we've got a big military and you haven't so I'm adding that in as well'. If you want to fall for junk like that then that's on you. But the whole discussion these last few weeks is trade deficits and tariffs. And the trade deficit that you have with Canada is $60 billion. Which exists for reasons that have been explained to you.In 2023, the US had a trade deficit of $67.9 billion dollars with Canada...
When you consider all factors as the article did it most likely could be close to $200 annually who cares, $67 Billion in itself is a bunch of moneyAs I said, Trump was lying to you. It doesn't include fantasy figures that Vance has pulled out of Trump's nether regions. Please try and maintain a contact with the real world and not the one in which Trump exists.
Who cares that the president is making up figures and lying to you? Let me think who should that be...well, it should be you for one. When you consider all factors as the article did it most likely could be close to $200 annually who cares, $67 Billion in itself is a bunch of money...
Trump could cure cancer and liberals would still rant against itWho cares that the president is making up figures and lying to you? Let me think who should that be...well, it should be you for one.
I'll put money on you not knowing what the actual figure was. Trump says $200 billion and you accepted it immediately. Even though any article on US/Canada economics will give you figures that are nowhere near that. Now that you've eventually done the work and looked for the actual deficit you've discovered that the administration has arbitrarily added $130 billion. They just pulled that out of the air, presumably thinking that a big, fat round number like $200 billion would impress people like you.
Here's an article that gives an even lower figure for the deficit, as in 2023: Despite Trump's claims, U.S. doesn't really have a trade deficit with Canada. Here's why
But the U.S. trade deficit with Canada isn’t actually that big. As of 2023, it was around $32 billion. And, here’s the thing: While Canada does have a trade surplus with the United States — the other side of the trade deficit coin — it’s due almost entirely to oil and gas purchased by the U.S.
Oil, critical for fuelling refineries in the U.S. Midwest, is purchased at a substantial discount, processed and re-sold. If you take Canadian oil out of the equation, Canada actually has a trade deficit, and the U.S. has a surplus — of $58 billion.
It actually is. He wants to throw his weight around with Canada and to make sure he gets you onside, he lies to you about the deficit. What gets me is that you know he's constantly lying to you (you've now discovered it about the deficit) but you just don't seem to care. It's not a matter of the actual figure being exact or even close...
It's about liberals who hate Donald J. Trump and they would complain if he cured cancerIt actually is. I'm not talking about why people dislike Trump. I'm talking about why you actually know that he's lying to you and you completely ignore it. I just don't get it. I can't understand it. This has nothing to do with him. It's about you and others who refuse to acknowledge it.It's about liberals who hate Donald J. Trump....
If our current PM (who runs a party that I support) was caught lying to the Australian public then it wouldn't be acceptable in any way. His own party would vote him out of the leadership. If they didn't then the parliament would vote him out. If they didn't then I'd be taking to the streets with thousands of others demanding that he resign. Yet you accept it as being entirely normal. It's business as usual. Point out that he lied about the deficit and your response is 'well, it's no big deal, it's a big figure anyway'.
This is some quite some Faustian bargain you've entered into. And this being a Christian forum. Where people are supporting this type of behaviour.
There aren't any. There isn't any need for it. Nature programs, travel programs etc are all available on other platforms just like I mentioned. Tons of those programs, 24 hours a day.OK. Thank you. So if there IS a need for it, say if there was some benefit to be found from it that can not be found in other programing, would that be sufficient in your mind to keep it's funding?
You can repeat your opinion 100 more times, I dont care if 10 Canadian citizens live in the country, Canada maintains a trade surplus with the US and as Donald J. Trump stated before the world, the tariffs will remain on Canada the surplus is going to be stopped
