[QUOTE="ActionJ, post: 62427713, member: 323806"] Thanks for adding to my very lonely conversation. LOL My wife and I just moved into a larger home complete with full sized, finished basement and a garage. We were previously apartment managers living in a tight-quartered apartment. The extra room we now enjoy will allow us to start canning our own food and will allow me to tinker around in the garage and use my dusty, lonely tools. Haha A few years ago, I purchased and entire pallet of freeze dried food in #10 cans. I also bought several 5 gallon pales of freeze dried "emergency food" from Costco and Emergency Essentials. We estimate that we have more than 1 year of food stored assuming that only three mouths will be fed (my wife, my stepson, and myself). I also have about 150 gallons of water stored. It's a true hobby of ours but one with practical applications should times get really tough. I'd love to learn how to make a bow and to dehydrate foods. Both would be useful and valuable talents.
