Prepoll Dialogue #3, Alot to chew on....

Quote:
We need to begin to dialogue about how we will handle the changes that will happen shortly…
1.How do we maintain our Identity as an SR Faith group within CF, and still be an open group to the lost.

2.What is our faith statement?

3.Do we agree with that?

4.What is our mission now?

5.New goals?

6. Resurrected Goals that were lost along the way?

This is alot to chew on, so if one subject gets ready to be voted on then separate it into it's own thread with a poll when the time comes ok? Just put the subject # in the title to help stay organized ok?

Do we need a faith statement?

Anabaptists and Quakers are mostly non-creedal.
There have been many confessions of faith throughout the history of Anabaptist groups, starting with the Schleitheim confession and extending to the more recent "A confession of faith in a Mennonite Perspective" from the MCUSA. There have also been some very good summaries of what amount to "universal" or common Anabaptist beliefs and practices, such as Harold Bender's Anabaptist Vision. There certainly are themes common to all these confessions and synthesises. I think there is plenty of material from which to develop a descriptive statement of what constitutes Anabaptism. Even the discussion we had on the Least Common Denominators of Anabaptism can serve as a framework, if the participants are willing to back up their assertions about Anabaptist beliefs and practices with some historical evidences that this was something that is common to Anabaptist believers.
