Hey! I don't post here very often, but I could really use your prayers...

Our senior pastor is on vacation and he has asked me to preach this Sunday. I have never preached for anyone but kids, so I am a bit nervous.

He asked me to highlight children's ministry, so I am thinking about preaching on the importance of reaching kids for Jesus. I almost went to state in persuasive speaking in high school, I have a degree in theatre and writing, and am by no means shy...just freaking out a bit.

Go, brother, go!!! I think that you'll find that adults are nothing more that BIG kids!

I think that the topic of reaching kids for Jesus is great! Jesus said that we are to make disciples of all people....I include kids in "all people". They are the next generation.

I think it's kind of funny that it is the first instinct of most of us to assume that all pastors are male. Even those of us who are female pastors! Oh, well!!

Anyway, yesterday went well! I preached on the importance of reaching out to children (I'm the children's pastor at my church - our senior pastor wanted me to do something to highlight children's ministry.). At the end, I asked everyone to stand if someone told them about Jesus before they turned 13, and the majority of people stood up, looked around, and gasped because there were so many people standing. I think it really helped get the point across that children's ministry IS important.

Glad it's over, though - I got my first "big church" sermon out of the way...Next time it's the youth pastor's turn!!
