Not exactly sure if this is in the correct place, but since it has to do with the origins of man...I hope so!

Okay, a friend and I were discussing creation, and the subject of a pre-Adamic race was brought up. What is everyone's thoughts/beliefs on this? And if you have any websites or other sources to back up your view, that would be great. I want to do a little research before we really discuss this in greater detail, because I want to be sure to have the facts and be well informed rather than just spouting off what I believe and not having Biblical evidence to back it up.

Thanks!

I don't believe in any pre-Adamic race. But then I believe Adam is humanity.

I believe that while Adam lived in the spiritual Eden, God was creating the physical Earth we know. So I believe that there were people alive on this Earth before Adam sinned and was driven from the Garden in Paradise.
There certainly was death.

If you have the stamina, read My Genesis Enigma on the Creationist site.

What made you and your friend start the thought of the pre-Adamic race? Do you mean there were a "race" before Adam? Why?

My thoughts on this one are that God created the Universe and all life therein over many billenia, by some sort of Divinely guided evolution. I also believe that He wanted to bring salvation to them and so prepared a more spiritually attentive man (Adam) in a partly spiritual world (EDEN). God planted two special trees in the Garden, one of the trees was the tree of the KoGaE, and the only command that Adam had was not to eat of its fruit. Is it possible that God new that Adam would fall eventually? Is that why Jesus was slain before the foundations of ther Earth were laid down?

What certainly did happen is that Adam fell to our Earth and started to farm here. Yet he retained his relationship with God and once his children were born, that relationship carried on with them and it seems that their presence amongst the humans (created during the sixth period of creation), had an effect because in the time of Adam's grandson Genesis 4:26 tells us that, "To Seth also a son was born, and he called his name Enosh. At that time people began to call upon the name of the LORD".

Adams lineage already called out to God, so it must have been caused by humans observing the Adamic people possibly even Cain. So it seems that the Adamic lineage did have an effect on mankind and from that Adamic lineage was to come their and our saviour.

How was that done?

God clearly new at the very begining that Jesus needed to hang on the Cross, because in Revelation 13:8 we are told "And all those dwelling in the earth will worship it, those of whom the names had not been written in the Book of Life of the Lamb having been slain from the foundation of the world".

A lot of times this comes up when people are wondering where Cain got his wife. Cain and Abel were Adam and Eve's two first born sons and they had sisters as well. When Cain slew Abel he took a wife, the question arises, did he marry one of his sisters? What a lot of people suggest is that there were other races living at the time and Cain took a wife from on of those people's daughters. This does not line up very well with my theology but I have known a number of good solid fundamentalists and evangelical that accept it.

It's like the idea of a local flood rather then a global one. While never questioning the supernatural or essential historical aspects of Scripture they feel this dovetails nicely with Christian Theology.

The thing is it's an interesting thought and if you are interested I could get a little more into the specifics. I'm going to hold off on links and more detailed explanations since I am getting the impression you are simply interested in a casual discussion.

I'd love as many details as possible, just because I do want to research it and form my opinion based on actual knowledge, not just my previous views. Any details would be welcome. :)

The Lord was crucified at A.D. 33, that was a time "from the foundation of the world".

We live today in A.D 2008, this is also a time "from the foundation of the world".

So, the Lord does not have to be hung on a tree in the Garden (for what?)

I know that you are looking for a reply from Mark but I do believe that Cain took took a wife from the people living in the Land of Nod and I do not believe that these people were of the Adamic lineage.
