Praying with Spouse

My husband voiced he can not pray with me when we have conflicts, hurt feelings, or disagreements since Matthew 5:23-24 states “Therefore, if you are offering your gift at the altar and there remember that your brother or sister has something against you, leave your gift there in front of the altar. First, go and be reconciled to them; then come and offer your gift. So I have not interpreted the verse to mean that. Any feedback would be greatly appreciated.

You can make this a mountain or molehill. Use it as an opportunity to smooth feathers and restore the peace. While you could question intent and give superstition sway the bigger gain is keeping strife at bay which makes for better unions.

I'd be more inclined to head them off. You can tell when things are heating up and moving in that direction. Bowing out prevents the fight. Which lessens the possibility of harsh words or anything further.
