  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Is it alright if I pray to Jesus?

Distant Ship Smoke,

Hello there and let me welcome you to CF. Congratulations on your decision to trust in Christ as Savior and Lord.

Of course you can pray to Jesus. The word 'pray' means to talk to, to make a request, to wish for

and Jesus said in
John 14:6(New Living Translation)
6. Jesus told him, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one can come to the Father except through me."

We can talk to Jesus and make our requests known to him. He the advocates for us by making our requests to the Father.

We can also talk directly to the Father because as Christians, we are his adopted children. It depends on what makes one feel comfortable at the time.

Thank goodness for that! I thought it was only praying to the Father and not to Jesus or Holy Spirit.

Most of my prayers are directed towards the Father, but it is not limited to Him. There are a few instances in the bible where apostles or disciples prayed to Jesus directly. The Spirit is always interceding for us (Romans 8).

I myself do not pray to Jesus, As Jesus taught us to pray to the Father in Heaven.

I also do not believe in the Roman tri-god, as I have chosen the Jewish One Father in Heaven.

I do not use the term god or christ, as there are many who claim that title.

Wouldn't it be funny if everyone was praying to the wrong god.

it's all about choices.

It's confusing, isn't it?

You are certainly safe praying to your Heavenly Father. And Jesus, Son of God who ascended to be with the Father, is not just another human.

In the Bible, the church is called the bride of Christ. So even if you had concerns about whether Jesus was completely one with the Father, you can still consider that He would want to communicate with you.

Some useful scriptures:

2Ch 6:30

Then hear from heaven Your dwelling place, and forgive, and render to each according to all his ways, whose heart You know; for You alone know the hearts of the sons of men.

Lu 5:24

"But, so that you may know that the Son of Man has authority on earth to forgive sins,"--He said to the paralytic --"I say to you, get up, and pick up your stretcher and go home."

Lu 23:34
But Jesus was saying, "Father, forgive them; for they do not know what they are doing."

1John 1:9
If we confess our sins, He is faithful and righteous to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.

Even if you turn out to do things unknowingly inappropriate, God will forgive all.
