• CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Lets Pray the psalms together. I plan to invite everyone in here to pray the Psalms. We will post the Psalms one at a time in order starting with Psalm 1 and going through all 150 then start over.

The Psalms is the Bibles prayer book lets make it ours as well. Here is Psalm 1:Psalms English: Douay-Rheims Version Psalms 1 [Context] [Commentary]
1. Blessed is the man who hath not walked in the counsel of the ungodly, nor stood in the way of sinners, nor sat in the chair of pestilence. 2. But his will is in the law of the Lord, and on his law he shall meditate day and night. 3. And he shall be like a tree which is planted near the running waters, which shall bring forth its fruit, in due season. And his leaf shall not fall off: and all whosoever he shall do shall prosper. 4. Not so the wicked, not so: but like the dust, which the wind driveth from the face of the earth. 5. Therefore the wicked shall not rise again in judgment: nor sinners in the council of the just. 6. For the Lord knoweth the way of the just: and the way of the wicked shall perish.

Please add your prayers. Also if you would like to present another translation please feel free to do so.

:prayer: JESUS please help me to stay focused on YOU all the time help me to avoid hanging out with evil people.:prayer:

Great thread! sorry i missed it until now :sorry:

Psalm 2

1 1 Why do the nations protest and the peoples grumble in vain?

2 2 Kings on earth rise up and princes plot together against the LORD and his anointed:

3 "Let us break their shackles and cast off their chains!"

4 The one enthroned in heaven laughs; the Lord derides them,

5 Then speaks to them in anger, terrifies them in wrath:

6 "I myself have installed my king on Zion, my holy mountain."

7 I will proclaim the decree of the LORD, who said to me, "You are my son; today I am your father.

8 Only ask it of me, and I will make your inheritance the nations, your possession the ends of the earth.

9 With an iron rod you shall shepherd them, like a clay pot you will shatter them."

10 And now, kings, give heed; take warning, rulers on earth.

11 Serve the LORD with fear; with trembling bow down in homage, Lest God be angry and you perish from the way in a sudden blaze of anger. Happy are all who take refuge in God!

God Bless.

English: Douay-Rheims Version Psalms 3 [Commentary]
1. The psalm of David when he fled from the face of his son Absalom. 2. Why, O Lord, are they multiplied that afflict me? many are they who rise up against me. 3. Many say to my soul: There is no salvation for him in his God. 4. But thou, O Lord art my protector, my glory, and the lifter up of my head. 5. I have cried to the Lord with my voice: and he hath heard me from his holy hill. 6. I have slept and taken my rest: and I have risen up, because the Lord hath protected me. 7. I will not fear thousands of the people, surrounding me: arise, O Lord; save me, O my God. 8. For thou hast struck all them who are my adversaries without cause: thou hast broken the teeth of sinners.

:prayer: Why, O LORD, do our children not grow up to be what we want them to be? Don't they know that we only want what is best for them? Don't they realize that after living 20 or more years than them we know a little more than they about what will make them happy?:scratch:

English: Douay-Rheims Version Psalms 4 [Commentary]
1. Unto the end, in verses. A psalm of David. 2. When I called upon him, the God of my justice heard me: when I was in distress, thou hast enlarged me. Have mercy on me: and hear my prayer. 3. O ye sons of men, how long will you be dull of heart? why do you love vanity, and seek after lying? 4. Know ye also that the Lord hath made his holy one wonderful: the Lord will hear me when I shall cry unto him. 5. Be angry, and sin not: the things you say in your hearts, be sorry for them upon your beds. 6. Offer up the sacrifice of justice, and trust in the Lord: many say, Who sheweth us good things? 7. The light of thy countenance O Lord, is signed upon us: thou hast given gladness in my heart. 8. By the fruit of their corn, their wine and oil, they are multiplied.

Psalm 5

For the director of music. For flutes. A psalm of David.

1 Give ear to my words, O LORD , consider my sighing.

2 Listen to my cry for help, my King and my God, for to you I pray.

3 In the morning, O LORD , you hear my voice; in the morning I lay my requests before you and wait in expectation.

4 You are not a God who takes pleasure in evil; with you the wicked cannot dwell.

5 The arrogant cannot stand in your presence; you hate all who do wrong.

6 You destroy those who tell lies; bloodthirsty and deceitful men the LORD abhors.

7 But I, by your great mercy, will come into your house; in reverence will I bow down toward your holy temple.

8 Lead me, O LORD , in your righteousness because of my enemies- make straight your way before me.

9 Not a word from their mouth can be trusted; their heart is filled with destruction. Their throat is an open grave; with their tongue they speak deceit.

10 Declare them guilty, O God! Let their intrigues be their downfall. Banish them for their many sins, for they have rebelled against you.

11 But let all who take refuge in you be glad; let them ever sing for joy. Spread your protection over them, that those who love your name may rejoice in you.

12 For surely, O LORD , you bless the righteous; you surround them with your favor as with a shield.

:pray: You O Lord are my refuge and strength, in You and You alone, I place all my trust. :pray:

Psalm 6

1 1 2 For the leader; with stringed instruments, "upon the eighth." A psalm of David.

2 Do not reprove me in your anger, LORD, nor punish me in your wrath.

3 Have pity on me, LORD, for I am weak; heal me, LORD, for my bones are trembling.

4 3 In utter terror is my soul-- and you, LORD, how long...?

5 4 Turn, LORD, save my life; in your mercy rescue me.

6 5 For who among the dead remembers you? Who praises you in Sheol?

7 I am wearied with sighing; all night long tears drench my bed; my couch is soaked with weeping.

8 My eyes are dimmed with sorrow, worn out because of all my foes.

9 Away from me, all who do evil! The LORD has heard my weeping.

10 The LORD has heard my prayer; the LORD takes up my plea.

11 My foes will be terrified and disgraced; all will fall back in sudden shame. :crossrc:

God Bless.

Psalm 7

A shiggaion of David, which he sang to the LORD concerning Cush, a Benjamite.

1 O LORD my God, I take refuge in you;

save and deliver me from all who pursue me,

2 or they will tear me like a lion

and rip me to pieces with no one to rescue me.

3 O LORD my God, if I have done this

and there is guilt on my hands-

4 if I have done evil to him who is at peace with me

or without cause have robbed my foe-

5 then let my enemy pursue and overtake me;

let him trample my life to the ground

and make me sleep in the dust.

Selah

6 Arise, O LORD , in your anger;

rise up against the rage of my enemies.

Awake, my God; decree justice.

7 Let the assembled peoples gather around you.

Rule over them from on high;

8 let the LORD judge the peoples.

Judge me, O LORD , according to my righteousness,

according to my integrity, O Most High.

9 O righteous God,

who searches minds and hearts,

bring to an end the violence of the wicked

and make the righteous secure.

10 My shield is God Most High,

who saves the upright in heart.

11 God is a righteous judge,

a God who expresses his wrath every day.

12 If he does not relent,

he will sharpen his sword;

he will bend and string his bow.

13 He has prepared his deadly weapons;

he makes ready his flaming arrows.

14 He who is pregnant with evil

and conceives trouble gives birth to disillusionment.

15 He who digs a hole and scoops it out

falls into the pit he has made.

16 The trouble he causes recoils on himself;

his violence comes down on his own head.

17 I will give thanks to the LORD because of his righteousness and will sing praise to the name of the LORD Most High.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
"My shield is God Most High"- He protects me at all times if I but rely on Him and not on my own frailty
:pray: In Thee, O Lord, I place all my trust!:pray:
English: Douay-Rheims Version Psalms 8 [Commentary]
1. Unto the end, for the presses: a psalm of David. 2. O Lord our Lord, how admirable is thy name in the whole earth! For thy magnificence is elevated above the heavens. 3. Out of the mouth of infants and of sucklings thou hast perfected praise, because of thy enemies, that thou mayst destroy the enemy and the avenger. 4. For I will behold thy heavens, the works of thy fingers: the moon and the stars which thou hast founded. 5. What is man that thou art mindful of him? or the son of man that thou visitest hi? 6. Thou hast made him a little less than the angels, thou hast crowned him with glory and honour: 7. and hast set him over the works of thy hands. 8. Thou hast subjected all things under his feet, all sheep and oxen: moreover the beasts also of the fields. 9. The birds of the air, and the fishes of the sea, that pass through the paths of the sea.
I wish i could find the New Jerusalem Bible on line but since i can't let me type the first two verses from it:
I thank YOU YAHWEH with my whole heart,
I recount all YOUR wonders
I rejoice and delight in YOU
I sing to your name MOST HIGH
the NJB presents Psalm 9,10 as one complete alphabet psalm. Here is Psalm 9 from the English: Douay-Rheims Version
1. Unto the end, for the hidden things of the Son. A psalm for David. 2. I will give praise to thee, O Lord, with my whole heart: I will relate all thy wonders. 3. I will be glad and rejoice in thee: I will sing to thy name, O thou most high. 4. When my enemy shall be turned back: they shall be weakened and perish before thy face. 5. For thou hast maintained my judgment and my cause: thou hast sat on the throne, who judgest justice. 6. Thou hast rebuked the Gentiles, and the wicked one hath perished: thou hast blotted out their name for ever and ever. 7. The swords of the enemy have failed unto the end: and their cities thou hast destroyed. Their memory hath perished with a noise. 8. but the Lord remaineth for ever. He hath prepared his throne in judgment: 9. and he shall judge the world in equity, he shall judge the people in justice. 10. And the Lord is become a refuge for the poor: a helper in due time in tribulation. 11. And let them trust in thee who know thy name: for thou hast not forsaken them that seek thee, O Lord. 12. Sing ye to the Lord, who dwelleth in Sion: declare his ways among the Gentiles: 13. For requiring their blood he hath remembered the: he hath not forgotten the cry of the poor. 14. Have mercy on me, O Lord: see my humiliation which I suffer from my enemies. 15. Thou that liftest me up from the gates of death, that I may declare all thy praises in the gates of the daughter of Sion. 16. I will rejoice in thy salvation: the Gentiles have stuck fast in the destruction which they have prepared. Their foot hath been taken in the very snare which they hid. 17. The Lord shall be known when he executeth judgments: the sinner hath been caught in the works of his own hands. 18. The wicked shall be turned into hell, all the nations that forget God. 19. For the poor man shall not be forgotten to the end: the patience of the poor shall not perish for ever. 20. Arise, O Lord, let not man be strengthened: let the Gentiles be judged in thy sight.
"The impatience in this psalm is the impatience of a child sure of his father's strength"
Psalm 10
1 Why, O LORD , do you stand far off? Why do you hide yourself in times of trouble?
2 In his arrogance the wicked man hunts down the weak, who are caught in the schemes he devises.
3 He boasts of the cravings of his heart; he blesses the greedy and reviles the LORD .
4 In his pride the wicked does not seek him; in all his thoughts there is no room for God.
5 His ways are always prosperous; he is haughty and your laws are far from him; he sneers at all his enemies.
6 He says to himself, "Nothing will shake me; I'll always be happy and never have trouble."
7 His mouth is full of curses and lies and threats; trouble and evil are under his tongue.
8 He lies in wait near the villages; from ambush he murders the innocent, watching in secret for his victims.
9 He lies in wait like a lion in cover; he lies in wait to catch the helpless; he catches the helpless and drags them off in his net.
10 His victims are crushed, they collapse; they fall under his strength.
11 He says to himself, "God has forgotten; he covers his face and never sees."
12 Arise, LORD ! Lift up your hand, O God. Do not forget the helpless.
13 Why does the wicked man revile God? Why does he say to himself, "He won't call me to account"?
14 But you, O God, do see trouble and grief; you consider it to take it in hand. The victim commits himself to you; you are the helper of the fatherless.
15 Break the arm of the wicked and evil man; call him to account for his wickedness that would not be found out.
16 The LORD is King for ever and ever; the nations will perish from his land.
17 You hear, O LORD , the desire of the afflicted; you encourage them, and you listen to their cry,
18 defending the fatherless and the oppressed, in order that man, who is of the earth, may terrify no more.
Psalm 11
For the Director of Music. Of David.
1 1 In the LORD I take refuge; how can you say to me, "Flee like a bird to the mountains!
2 See how the wicked string their bows, fit their arrows to the string to shoot from the shadows at the upright.
3 2 When foundations are being destroyed, what can the upright do?"
4 The LORD is in his holy temple; the LORD'S throne is in heaven. God's eyes keep careful watch; they test all peoples.
5 The LORD tests the good and the bad, hates those who love violence,
6 3 And rains upon the wicked fiery coals and brimstone, a scorching wind their allotted cup.
7 The LORD is just and loves just deeds; the upright shall see his face.
God Bless.
Psalm 12
For the director of music. According to sheminith . A psalm of David.
1 Help, LORD , for the godly are no more; the faithful have vanished from among men.
2 Everyone lies to his neighbor; their flattering lips speak with deception.
3 May the LORD cut off all flattering lips and every boastful tongue
4 that says, "We will triumph with our tongues; we own our lips -who is our master?"
5 "Because of the oppression of the weak and the groaning of the needy, I will now arise," says the LORD . "I will protect them from those who malign them."
6 And the words of the LORD are flawless, like silver refined in a furnace of clay, purified seven times.
7 O LORD , you will keep us safe and protect us from such people forever.
8 The wicked freely strut about when what is vile is honored among men.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
"This psalm seems to be a liturgy:a lament is answered by the divine promise of help pronounced by the priest: God will arise and save; the people answer with a profession of trust."

O LORD , you will keep us safe and protect us from such people forever.

PSALM 13

For the director of music. A psalm of David.

1 How long, O LORD ? Will you forget me forever?
How long will you hide your face from me?

2 How long must I wrestle with my thoughts
and every day have sorrow in my heart?
How long will my enemy triumph over me?

3 Look on me and answer, O LORD my God.
Give light to my eyes, or I will sleep in death;

4 my enemy will say, "I have overcome him,"
and my foes will rejoice when I fall.

5 But I trust in your unfailing love;
my heart rejoices in your salvation.

6 I will sing to the LORD , for he has been good to me.

Commentary from the Psalms: A New Translation.
"The fool in the bible is one who has his values all wrong and is encouraged..to behave as if God would take no action..How often have we thought "Thank God I am not like this Pharisee?" No, we are foolish too:the traitor inside us establishes his own convenient hierarchy of values. In this psalm..we pray for God to destroy what is worse within our own selves."

Psalm 14

For the director of music. Of David.

1 The fool says in his heart, "There is no God." They are corrupt, their deeds are vile; there is no one who does good.

2 The LORD looks down from heaven on the sons of men to see if there are any who understand, any who seek God.

3 All have turned aside, they have together become corrupt;there is no one who does good, not even one.

4 Will evildoers never learn- those who devour my people as men eat bread and who do not call on the LORD ?

5 There they are, overwhelmed with dread, for God is present in the company of the righteous.

6 You evildoers frustrate the plans of the poor, but the LORD is their refuge.

7 Oh, that salvation for Israel would come out of Zion! When the LORD restores the fortunes of his people, let Jacob rejoice and Israel be glad!

Psalm 15

Description of a Citizen of Zion.

A Psalm of David.

1. O LORD, who may abide in Your tent?
Who may dwell on Your holy hill?

2. He who walks with integrity, and works righteousness,
And speaks truth in his heart.

3. He does not slander with his tongue,
Nor does evil to his neighbor,
Nor takes up a reproach against his friend;

4. In whose eyes a reprobate is despised,
But who honors those who fear the LORD;
He swears to his own hurt and does not change;

5. He does not put out his money at interest,
Nor does he take a bribe against the innocent
He who does these things will never be shaken.

Psalm 16: A Psalm of Confidence and trust in the Lord
Other gods there may be in our lives, money, objects, people, jobs, which I make my refuge and rely on for our security. But all these will pass and decay. With the Lord our God, our happiness is eternal, with Him all things shall be well and at the end of things, we will not decay in the grave but rejoice with Him forever!

Preserve me God, I take refuge in you
I say to the Lord,
"You are my God, my happiness lies in you alone."

He has put in my heart a marvellous love
for the faithful ones who dwell in his land.
Those who choose other gods increase their sorrows
Never will I take their offerings of blood
Never will I take their name upon my lips

O Lord, it is you who are my portion and cup
It is you who are my prize
The lot marked out for you is my delight
Welcome the heritage that falls to me!

I will bless the Lord who gives my counsel
who even at night directs my heart
I keep the Lord ever in my sight
since he is at my right hand, I shall stand firm

And so my heart rejoices, my soul is glad
even my body shall rest in safety
For you will not leave my soul among the dead
nor let your beloved know decay

You will show me the path of light
the fullness of joy in your presence,
at your right hand happiness forever.

PSALM 17

A Prayer for Protection. A Prayer of David.

HEAR the right, O LORD, consider my complaint, * and hearken unto my prayer, that goeth not out of feigned lips.

Let my sentence come forth from thy presence; * and let thine eyes look upon the thing that is equal.

Thou hast proved and visited mine heart in the night season; thou hast tried me, and shalt find no wickedness in me; * for I am utterly purposed that my mouth shall not offend.

As for the works of men, * by the word of thy lips I have kept me from the ways of the destroyer.

O hold thou up my goings in thy paths, * that my footsteps slip not.

I have called upon thee, O God, for thou shalt hear me: * incline thine ear to me, and hearken unto my words.

Show thy marvellous loving-kindness, thou that art the Saviour of them which put their trust in thee, * from such as resist thy right hand.

Keep me as the apple of an eye; * hide me under the shadow of thy wings,

From the ungodly, that trouble me; * mine enemies compass me round about, to take away my soul.

They are inclosed in their own fat, * and their mouth speaketh proud things.

They lie waiting in our way on every side, * watching to cast us down to the ground;

Like as a lion that is greedy of his prey, * and as it were a lion's whelp lurking in secret places.

Up, LORD, disappoint him, and cast him down; * deliver my soul from the ungodly, by thine own sword;

Yea, by thy hand, O LORD; from the men of the evil world; * which have their portion in this life, whose bellies thou fillest with thy hid treasure.

They have children at their desire, * and leave the rest of their substance for their babes.

But as for me, I shall behold thy presence in righteousness; * and when I awake up after thy likeness, I shall be satisfied.

PSALM 18

To the chief Musician, A Psalm of David, the servant of the LORD, who spake unto the LORD the words of this song in the day that the LORD delivered him from the hand of all his enemies, and from the hand of Saul: And he said,

1 I will love thee, O LORD, my strength.

2 The LORD is my rock, and my fortress, and my deliverer; my God, my strength, in whom I will trust; my buckler, and the horn of my salvation, and my high tower.

3 I will call upon the LORD, who is worthy to be praised: so shall I be saved from mine enemies.

4 The sorrows of death compassed me, and the floods of ungodly men made me afraid.

5 The sorrows of hell compassed me about: the snares of death prevented me.

6 In my distress I called upon the LORD, and cried unto my God: he heard my voice out of his temple, and my cry came before him, even into his ears.

7 Then the earth shook and trembled; the foundations also of the hills moved and were shaken, because he was wroth.

8 There went up a smoke out of his nostrils, and fire out of his mouth devoured: coals were kindled by it.

9 He bowed the heavens also, and came down: and darkness was under his feet.

10 And he rode upon a cherub, and did fly: yea, he did fly upon the wings of the wind.

11 He made darkness his secret place; his pavilion round about him were dark waters and thick clouds of the skies.

12 At the brightness that was before him his thick clouds passed, hail stones and coals of fire.

13 The LORD also thundered in the heavens, and the Highest gave his voice; hail stones and coals of fire.

14 Yea, he sent out his arrows, and scattered them; and he shot out lightnings, and discomfited them.

15 Then the channels of waters were seen, and the foundations of the world were discovered at thy rebuke, O LORD, at the blast of the breath of thy nostrils.

16 He sent from above, he took me, he drew me out of many waters.

17 He delivered me from my strong enemy, and from them which hated me: for they were too strong for me.

18 They prevented me in the day of my calamity: but the LORD was my stay. 19 He brought me forth also into a large place; he delivered me, because he delighted in me.

20 The LORD rewarded me according to my righteousness; according to the cleanness of my hands hath he recompensed me.

21 For I have kept the ways of the LORD, and have not wickedly departed from my God.

22 For all his judgments were before me, and I did not put away his statutes from me.

23 I was also upright before him, and I kept myself from mine iniquity.

24 Therefore hath the LORD recompensed me according to my righteousness, according to the cleanness of my hands in his eyesight.

25 With the merciful thou wilt shew thyself merciful; with an upright man thou wilt shew thyself upright;

26 With the pure thou wilt shew thyself pure; and with the froward thou wilt shew thyself froward.

27 For thou wilt save the afflicted people; but wilt bring down high looks. 28 For thou wilt light my candle: the LORD my God will enlighten my darkness.

29 For by thee I have run through a troop; and by my God have I leaped over a wall.

30 As for God, his way is perfect: the word of the LORD is tried: he is a buckler to all those that trust in him.

31 For who is God save the LORD? or who is a rock save our God?

32 It is God that girdeth me with strength, and maketh my way perfect.

33 He maketh my feet like hinds’ feet, and setteth me upon my high places.

34 He teacheth my hands to war, so that a bow of steel is broken by mine arms.

35 Thou hast also given me the shield of thy salvation: and thy right hand hath holden me up, and thy gentleness hath made me great.

36 Thou hast enlarged my steps under me, that my feet did not slip.

37 I have pursued mine enemies, and overtaken them: neither did I turn again till they were consumed.

38 I have wounded them that they were not able to rise: they are fallen under my feet.

39 For thou hast girded me with strength unto the battle: thou hast subdued under me those that rose up against me.

40 Thou hast also given me the necks of mine enemies; that I might destroy them that hate me.

41 They cried, but there was none to save them: even unto the LORD, but he answered them not.

42 Then did I beat them small as the dust before the wind: I did cast them out as the dirt in the streets.

43 Thou hast delivered me from the strivings of the people; and thou hast made me the head of the heathen: a people whom I have not known shall serve me.

44 As soon as they hear of me, they shall obey me: the strangers shall submit themselves unto me.

45 The strangers shall fade away, and be afraid out of their close places.

46 The LORD liveth; and blessed be my rock; and let the God of my salvation be exalted.

47 It is God that avengeth me, and subdueth the people under me.

48 He delivereth me from mine enemies: yea, thou liftest me up above those that rise up against me: thou hast delivered me from the violent man.

49 Therefore will I give thanks unto thee, O LORD, among the heathen, and sing praises unto thy name. 50 Great deliverance giveth he to his king; and sheweth mercy to his anointed, to David, and to his seed for evermore.

can we skip to todays ("good" Friday) psalm:
English: Douay-Rheims Version Psalms 21
1. Unto the end, for the morning protection, a psalm for David.

2. O God my God, look upon me: why hast thou forsaken me? Far from my salvation are the words of my sins.
3. O my God, I shall cry by day, and thou wilt not hear: and by night, and it shall not be reputed as folly in me.
4. But thou dwellest in the holy place, the praise of Israel.
5. In thee have our fathers hoped: they have hoped, and thou hast delivered them.
6. They cried to thee, and they were saved: they trusted in thee, and were not confounded.
7. But I am a worm, and no man: the reproach of men, and the outcast of the people.
8. All they that saw me have laughed me to scorn: they have spoken with the lips, and wagged the head.
9. He hoped in the Lord, let him deliver him: let him save him, seeing he delighteth in him.
10. For thou art he that hast drawn me out of the womb: my hope from the breasts of my mother.
11. I was cast upon thee from the womb. From my mother's womb thou art my God,
12. depart not from me. For tribulation is very near: for there is none to help me.
13. Many calves have surrounded me: fat bulls have besieged me.

14.
I am poured out like water,
And all my bones are out of joint;
My heart is like wax;
It is melted within me.
15. My strength is dried up like a potsherd,
And my tongue cleaves to my jaws;
And You lay me in the dust of death.
16. For dogs have surrounded me;
A band of evildoers has encompassed me;
They pierced my hands and my feet.
17. I can count all my bones.
They look, they stare at me;
18. They divide my garments among them,
And for my clothing they cast lots.
19. But You, O LORD, be not far off;
O You my help, hasten to my assistance.
20. Deliver my soul from the sword,
My only life from the power of the dog.
21. Save me from the lion's mouth;
From the horns of the wild oxen You answer me.
22. I will tell of Your name to my brethren;
In the midst of the assembly I will praise You.
23. You who fear the LORD, praise Him;
All you descendants of Jacob, glorify Him,
And stand in awe of Him, all you descendants of Israel.
24. For He has not despised nor abhorred the affliction of the afflicted;
Nor has He hidden His face from him;
But when he cried to Him for help, He heard.
25. From You comes my praise in the great assembly;
I shall pay my vows before those who fear Him.
26. The afflicted will eat and be satisfied;
Those who seek Him will praise the LORD.
Let your heart live forever!
27. All the ends of the earth will remember and turn to the LORD,
And all the families of the nations will worship before You.
28. For the kingdom is the LORD'S
And He rules over the nations.
29. All the prosperous of the earth will eat and worship,
All those who go down to the dust will bow before Him,
Even he who cannot keep his soul alive.
30. Posterity will serve Him;
It will be told of the Lord to the coming generation.
31. They will come and will declare His righteousness
To a people who will be born, that He has performed it.

Psalm 19

For the director of music. A psalm of David.

1 The heavens declare the glory of God; the skies proclaim the work of his hands.
2 Day after day they pour forth speech; night after night they display knowledge.
3 There is no speech or language where their voice is not heard.
4 Their voice goes out into all the earth, their words to the ends of the world.
In the heavens he has pitched a tent for the sun,
5 which is like a bridegroom coming forth from his pavilion,
like a champion rejoicing to run his course.
6 It rises at one end of the heavens
and makes its circuit to the other; nothing is hidden from its heat.
7 The law of the LORD is perfect, reviving the soul.
The statutes of the LORD are trustworthy, making wise the simple.
8 The precepts of the LORD are right, giving joy to the heart.
The commands of the LORD are radiant,giving light to the eyes.
9 The fear of the LORD is pure, enduring forever.
The ordinances of the LORD are sure and altogether righteous.
10 They are more precious than gold, than much pure gold;
they are sweeter than honey, than honey from the comb.
11 By them is your servant warned; in keeping them there is great reward.
12 Who can discern his errors? Forgive my hidden faults.
13 Keep your servant also from willful sins; may they not rule over me.
Then will I be blameless, innocent of great transgression.
14 May the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart
be pleasing in your sight, O LORD, my Rock and my Redeemer.
