  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

I got an invitation to my brother's wedding today....

it was a deeper blow than I expected, my heart just feels broken for him into million litte tiny pieces...

Will you pray, for me, for my parents-especially my dad who is floundering....and for my brother and his *gulp*wife.... Mother Mary will know what prayers we need.... I don't, I just sit and hurt and feel hollow, and think about how much I loved him growing up....

I'm sorry you are feeling so hurt about this. I do hope that the family can show some happiness for him.

If he felt he could not honestly uphold his vows...I feel (personally) he did the honorable thing.

I'm really sorry for your pain though...

yeah...there's a little more to it than that... and holy orders leaves an indelible mark on his soul....he will forver be a priest. The Church rejected his appeal for laicization, so the Church didn't feel he was unable to live up to his vows.

By getting married he is now removing his future wife outside of the sacraments. Up to this point she was a practicing Catholic...explain how, exactly I am supposed to be happy...

Trust in God's mercy. Not man's.

They are 2 adults that know what they are doing.

I do think some enter into religious life thinking they may have a call or are simply fulfilling expectations.

Seriously, I'm sorry for your pain.

But all you can do is pray, trust God & show the love of Christ to your brother & his new wife.

I know the reality of it all...it just hurts like hell...he was a great priest...the kind y'all always wish you had at your parishes...

and he is my brother and is a completely differnt person (not for the better) than he has been the last 10 years...

and so I grieve, I grieve for him, for me, and for the Church....
