  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Hi. I'm sorry if this is not the appropriate place for this post, but I'm still new here and am unsure where it belongs. I'm trying to find some prayer warrior groups near where I live in Colorado. There ought to be groups aplenty in CO Springs, but time and money don't really allow multiple trips down there each month. So I'd ideally like to find something close to me in Denver. Any advice?

Finding prayer groups is easy enough if you look for them. Finding a prayer group that is worth your time is quite another matter. In the past I've gone from one after another, where ultimately it became obvious that the members did not have a proper understanding of what prayer is about or a true Christian attitude.

On the surface, the members look so real, but then when they do things like make fun of other people in the group for their nationality or degrade others with jokes, it makes one wonder just what will be accomplished spiritually by such a group. I've also been in ones where I was told not to pray for certain things, because Satan will never allow it, as he has too much power, or it is not right to pray for small things, even if they make a big difference in someone's life, or if the things are not entirely spiritual in nature -- and these guys did services in a prison weekly with me.

People often overlook, that the best prayer partners they can have are their family members or best friends, or even just close proximity friends. I would focus on finding prayer partners with a quality understanding of the Bible and being Christ-like, that could work out into a group. A small group of people like that will work wonders. Be patient and find people you relate to well spiritually and work it into a group eventually. Then, it will really become something special.

In the meantime -- if you need prayer immediately for particular situations -- well... just seek the Lord on how to handle that until you can get a prayer group with power going.
