Hi Everyone,

If you have time today pray a minute for our newly forming Praise Band here in NW Florida. We are playing at our church tonight for a fellowship dinner. This is our first real intro for the church to P & W. This is a PCA Presbyterian church comfortable with piano-organ and choir. Quite a feat to pull off. We have digitally recorded drums, two acoustic guitarist- a bass player and me playing lead guitar and vocals. hopefully the Lord will send us a drummer and keyboardist soon. Give us a blessing of prayer today .

Hi Barry,
As usual, I'm a little late reading your post. It is nice to see the doors opening to a wider range & audience of Praise & Worship. Prayerfully, they will see that P & W can be as powerful, emotional & heartfelt as any other musical expression of your love for God.
Our P & W group was invited to a local Episcopal Church to do their first P & W Service. After going to the early service & seeing how structured & time oriented it was, we were definitely a little hesitant, but the service went excellent. They now have a P & W service once a month, which is an awesome movement of faith by that Episcopal Church.
If the "heirarchy" of the Church can get past the preconceived idea that it's somekind of movement to take over & realize that it is just another tool of the Lord that can expand the Churches Ministry & outreach to those they currently are not touching, then it can only be a benefit to all.
Please let us know how your P & W Fellowship Dinner went.
Gods'Blessings,
Tim

Tim The Strat Man,

Nice to see you here again! All went pretty good. I used alot of new PA gear for the first time but we had no problems. Kinda hard to tell really how some of the older folks took to it. Action speaks louder than Words, so we'll see in the near future if this will grow into something. If it doesn't move into something before long I will have to consider moving to another church. I'm 42 now. I don't want to wait much longer to do something for the Lord with music. I have a PA most churches would love to have and It sits alot, and I grow impatient at times waiting on the Lord to move here. I get the feeling this Presbyterian church might want to stay with the same Piano-Choir-organ routine that does not bring anybody in and bores the young folks. The Calvary Chapel here would be a much better fit for me. They do the kind of music I want to do. I've visited it many time becuase they have an 8:30 service I can attend and go to Presbyterian service after it. They have a solid men's prayer group Tuesday morning. Might be time for a move. My new Flamed Cherry sunburst Hamer Flying V was a hit last night. Pretty Kool guitar.

Barry,
I can understand where you're at. Sometimes we rush thing with our impatience & get ahead of the Lord, then sometimes our surroundings & circumstances prevent the Lord from doing His work. If God has blessed you with a special gift, then you HAVE to use it for His Glory.
I am a member of a small Pentacostal Church & they understand that music can be as powerful as preaching. As long as it praises & glorifies God, they put no boundaries on instruments or styles. They don't just allow it or put up with it, they support & encourage it. We have had youth concerts where the youth are outnumbered by our 60+year old members. They understand that God uses everyone & everything to get His word out.
I will Pray for your situation & I know that the Lord will guide you in making the proper decision. I hope your present Church will understand that a God given gift MUST BE USED. Churches should be like all the little smilies here....there are multitudes of ways to say the same thing & you should use as many as there are available!
