  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

Hey Amandine:wave:

Welcome to OBOB. I will be praying for you. Fear is not of God, He has an incredible love for you and the Church will welcome you. Keep praying, Jesus will strengthen you. When you are ready just take the step and offer all your fear to Jesus. Do it for Him and you will find the strength to do what you need to.:)

Oh-- praying!!

I was with a woman last night who cannot make a full confession at this point becasue of a divorce and remarriage- but the priest tole her she could confess and receive a blessing---SHe was terrified, and really stressed before hand-- and then afterwards- she remarked- how it was all so much easier than she had anticipated. That the stress of bewing frightened was way worse than the actual talking to the priest...

Welcome into the forums. If you have the chance to read these posts again remember that the above people prayed for you, feel the same as you and I have been through nervousness during a confession I did not wanna confess. I felt renewed, and fresh-the burden lifted afterwards. Funny as this sounds,I chose a church outside of my regular home church. This may be odd to some, for me-I needed to go to a priest outside of my parish.I was that scared of his reaction. It would have been fine but I chose to see another priest. You're not unlike those of us with similar fears.take much care, continue to care enough to seek confession.

I really wish I could go to confession. I think I have a bit of scrupulosity, so not yet being a member of the church makes me really nervous most of the time. It's too bad RCIA isn't until Autumn... :(

Hey:hug:

Go talk to a priest anyway. Priests are more than just confessors although that is an important part of what they do. If you called and made an appointment with a priest, he would set aside time to talk, you could explain that you have some fears and may be scrupulous in your dealings with yourself. Let him know your faith history and your intentions and he can counsel you. It's what priests typically do quite well. :)

Don't try to live the next 3/4 of a year in angst. Reach out and the priest will meet you where you are. It's how Jesus works and He works that same way through His priests.
