  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

This is a companion thread to the Prayer for Porn thread posted in the Women's Forum. I wanted to also include guys in the prayer chain.

If you haven't read the other thread, the point of this is to start with something small (although prayer isn't really small ) to bring down the porn industry. Each week we will pray for a different porn star, their family , friends, and all those involved and impacted by this industry.

Porn has lead to the distruction of families, relationships, marriages, and the self. Our society has become tainted with porn and so many people think it's "okay" and even good to view porn. Some couples I know actually believe porn is okay to view as a couple (even as a married couple) before having sex.

It is disgusting and the porn kings must be stopped!

The kinds of things the young girls (and guys too, although women are the ones who are really being mistreated the most in porn) that get into porn go through are horrific. They are told they will be performing certain sex acts, only to find out that they will being doing something that is horrific and disgusting. They are told being in the porn industry will help them become mainstream movie stars. Their self esteem and view of their self worth is often very poor.

Please join me in my quest to bring down the porn industry little by little, with God's guidance, by praying for the people in this industry and for the ultimate distruction of this industry.

This week we are praying for Bella Dona. That is not her real name. She was featured in an interview on Dateline with Diane Sawyer. She discussed her involvement in the porn industry. She got into it at the age of 18 I believe and was sexually abused at the age of 14. She said in the interview that she doesn't like herself and is sometimes suicidal. She also said she tries to hide her emotions so that no one can see she is miserable. Please pray for Bella!

God Bless! :)

Great idea! And I am with you all the way, and I will begin with praying for Bella.

And I agree, far too many people think that pornography is harmless. Here is a disturbing article from http://www.settingcaptivesfree.com, which talks about Ted Bundy. Part of it is pretty graphic, so if you think you might be offended, DONT READ IT.

He was an honor student, volunteer, young republican, and a local hero...

In his early years Ted Bundy was an all-around nice guy. He volunteered for the Republican Party and in his early years he also managed a suicide hotline. He had a degree in psychology from the University of Washington, where he graduated with honors, and he went to law school in Salt Lake City. Ted was well liked by the people with whom he worked and also by his professors. He even saved a young boy from drowning once, and was hailed in his hometown newspaper as a "hero."

But things changed. Here is Ted Bundy's own description of how he changed.

"I wasn't some guy hanging out in bars, or a bum. I wasn't a pervert in the sense that people look at somebody and say, 'I know there's something wrong with him.' I was a normal person. I had good friends. I led a normal life, except for this one, small but very potent and destructive segment that I kept very secret and close to myself. Those of us who have been so influenced by violence in the media, particularly pornographic violence, are not some kind of inherent monsters. We are your sons and husbands. We grew up in regular families. Pornography can reach in and snatch a kid out of any house today. It snatched me out of my home 20 or 30 years ago."

Ted Bundy brutally raped and murdered these girls and numerous others.

Lisa Levy was the first girl that officers found dead. Pathologists who later performed the autopsy on her found that she had been beaten on the head with a log, raped and strangled. Upon further examination, they discovered bite marks on her buttocks and on one of her nipples. In fact, Lisa's nipple had been so severely bitten that it was almost severed from the rest of her breast. She had also been sexually assaulted with a hair spray bottle.

On February 9th, 1978, Lake City Police received a phone call from the distressed parents of twelve-year-old Kimberly Leach. They were hysterical and said that their daughter had disappeared that day. Police were to launch a massive search to find the missing girl, who disappeared from her school grounds. The person who last saw her was her friend Priscilla Blakney. In fact, she saw Kim get into the car of a stranger the day she disappeared. Unfortunately, she was unable to accurately remember the car or the driver. They found her body eight weeks later in a state park in Suwannee County, Florida. The young girl's body yielded little information due to advanced decomposition.

The last victim. Kimberly Leach disappeared form Lake City, Florida on Februrary 9, 1978. She was 12 years old.

I don't know about you guys, but this doesn't sound so harmless to me. Here is another article from the same website for those who are interested. http://www.settingcaptivesfree.com/deadly/interview.php

Wow. Thanks for posting that. If that doesn't convince you porn is DESTRUCTIVE and is definitely NOT harmless I don't know what will. Satan uses porn to manipulate and destroy. That is his ultimate goal. We have to bring this industry down and ask God to fight this battle for us to bring the porn industry to a halt and stop satan from continuing to destroy God's people.

And I have a feeling satan is quite perturbed with me for starting this whole thing, so if you all could pray for me as well I'd appreciate it. I'm sure he'll be trying to throw out all the bells and whistles to try and win. I know Christ is within me and I know satan can't ultimately win since Christ paid the price for me. Praise God!

Hey, praying to bring down the porn industry is good but I can't help thinking of the story in the Bible where Jesus casts out a demon then goes on to say if that person isn't filled then the demon will just get friends and come back.

It goes to the adage, cure the disease not the symptom.

Porn is a symptom of a disease not a disease itself. The disease is hopelessness. The hopelessness can be toward many things but the effect is still the same. People use porn as a crutch to placate their hopelessness. Some even getting to the point where they need porn. Maybe it would be better to pray for the hopelessness? Better still, to pray for both?

I would recommend reading a book by John Eldredge titled "Wild at Heart" It's mainly focused on men but there are points valid for women also.

Actually I think that it starts with the people making the porn. And yes we need to pray for their salvation, etc., but also that they will be able to get out of this horrible industry. It's a serious issue and I feel God is calling me to help those girls somehow. Please read another thread I posted about Wild at Heart if you want to know what I think of it. This thread is not the place to discuss that.

I posted this thread for those who are with me and want to pray for these people, whatever it is you choose to pray for them about that will help them. Please don't turn this thread into a discussion or a debate or your own personal interests. If you have a concern with this thread, PM me. But please leave this thread to posters who wish to pray for these girls or those who wish to share their testimony.

THANK YOU.

The goal is admirable but I think you'd be better off with something a little more realistic...

If you know some in particular like the one you mentioned in the other thread, then focus on them. Otherwise I would just pray for them as a whole.. there are literally millions of actors/actresses in the porn industry.

I don't think what you guys have said is making suggestions. to me it seems like an attack and just trying to belittle what I'm trying to do. I didn't ask for suggestions. This was supposed to be a prayer thread. No one seems to be praying or cares to pray so I guess I have to do this on my own.

If the mods want to close this thread, feel free, looks like we just have a bunch of men wanting to discount me and my ideas because they do not agree with my views.

Well, I was going to let the topic drop, but this seriously ****ed me off. Perhaps I'll reply or send a PM expounding how I feel later when anger is less likely to dictate what I write. For now I'll leave it at this:

You will end up doing things on your own if you constantly push others away! :sigh:
