I've had that experience and have prayed, "You know where that item is, so please show me." It has worked on many occasions.
My wife lost her keys at one stage, so I prayed the prayer, and after three days she found them in our cutlery drawer in the kitchen!! I've ribbed her at times when she has mislaid something by saying, "Look in the knife and fork drawer!"
Another time when we couldn't find the set of keys, it was several days and we had to use our spare set to use the car and to get back into the house. I prayed, and one day I walked into our laundry and saw the keys lying beside our upright freezer. We have a ginger cat who is an expert at hooking out cockroaches from inaccessible places and playing with them (we have that problem in our sub-tropical climate here in Auckland NZ). What the cat had done was to put his paw under the freezer where the keys had fallen, and hooked them out. So, who says that cats cannot be led by The Holy Spirit???

Father God, you are my Lord, you are my God, you are my healer, you are my creator, you are my king and you are my everything. Then you for everything you have done for me today this sabbath.
I give you praise, glory and honor for the work you have come and done in my life. Please cleanse and forgive me of all sins and unrighteousness.
Thank you for helping me find my passport. Please help me relocate my wallet, my lost property, health, opportunities and time taken away from me by the tricks and lies of the devil and his followers and by the reckless actions of my sins and choices father God. Please help recover all I lost, even when I sold and gave the farm away.
I'm thankful you got rid of terrorist and legal threats against our home and family in Jesus name and give you praise father God. Please help get rid of satan and his followers and to get rid of and dismiss the criminal accusations against me and dismiss those cases and separate me from the evil ones and repair all the time lost and funds and everything I could have been making working. Heal my mind, body, soul, spirit, jobs, finances, social circle, etc. Heal my home father god, my mother is unbearable and my father is a jerk. I need help father. I'm helpless and my dad physically attacks me for being weak.
father, please clear my name so that the corporate offices can hire me and help them to open this week too after the storm so I can get hired and start working as a trainer at my favorite gyms and earn good money. Please help cancel and get rid of all my debts, tickets and other expenses that satan and his followers maliciously thrown at me because of his wicked ways. Forgive me for my tresspasses and help me to forgive my enemies and bless those who hurt and wronged me hatefully. Please help recover and restore and refine my library and all my property and vehicles to be clean, concise, simple and minimally too the point to help get the job done and glorify you, and that you choose the best of all things to keep the overall quality and value of my treasures to keep climbing up and rising up over time with your careful planning lord father. Please return my supplies and instrument too father.
One last request father; thank you for listening to me and caring about my desires and requests, I ask that you touch my ex's heart and to please relieve her of her burdens and disappointments in life. I'm sorry i hurt and scared her and made her angry towards me father, it was my fault for not knowing how to emotionally and correctly deal with the entire situation when emotions were all running high. I pray that she forgives me and that somehow please give me a chance with her again father, I care about her and miss her, that it be your will, if not, please bless me with someone cooler, wiser and better and so on. Please help fund and pay my way through graduate schools online for my masters and Ph.Ds and the BCBA and LPC certs and anything else that will help me with my professional background and my home and living expenses all through my life and beyond for myself, my family, loved ones and whatever specific purposes and desires you want for me for those tools Lord God, they are yours, not mine to command. Please help me with my martial art studies too with the financing and the teachers as well, please bless me with good, skilled and wise Godly instructors handpicked by you alone who will bless me with the best cream of the crop science and skills and curricula anyone can come up with for all these things I want to create and help get going too father.
