  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Hello Everyone,

I have been in CF for a little while and have yet to come over and say 'Hello' to my fellow Church members. I was wondering if I could add my father to your prayer lists. My father managed to break his neck 6 weeks ago while going for a walk with Mum. He tripped over while he was walking and fell heavily on his shoulder. He did not feel anything at first except for some neck pain, and carried on as normal. The next Sabbath he took a Youth Rally at Avondale College and did not see his Doctor until Monday. Anyway a few stuff ups later, Mum rings me on Thursday to tell me that Dad was not well, when I tried to talk to him on the phone, I realised that something was very wrong and got Mum to take him into Hospital. Several tests and scans later we find out that Dad has basically broken his neck and ruptured the disks at C5 and C6. The Doctors were amazed that Dad was still alive and was not a quadriplegic. After a Halo brace was screwed into his skull, we thought that Dad would be fine, however Dad continued to go down hill. One week after he had been admitted to hospital Dad was in renal failure, liver failure, respiratory failure and heart failure. He was admitted to ICU and they tried for 2 hours to intubate him, unable to do this, they had to perform a tracheostomy. At this point, Dad slipped into a coma. 70 or so hours later, Dad started to wake up, and he has been improving at an incredible rate since then.

I dont know how many 'Aussies' there are in here, but some of you may know of Dad. He is the National Director of Education for the Church, and Dad is very much in demand for Youth Rallies, Camps etc and he has touched the lives of many people. We firmly believe that the devil has tried to take him from us and also to attack the modality of which Dad has reached so many people, his voice.

So if you could please add Dad to your prayer lists.

Thank you and God Bless

Claire

I don't know what my prayers are going to do for your dad, since it appears to me that he is an untouchable, just like job was.

Indeed the anointing of God is on your father, and Satan will not be able to take his life from him.

What a great man your dad must be! God loves him very much.

Holy Father. we lift up our brother Dr John to You this day. Please wrap Your loving arms around this dear man and heal his broken neck and ruptured disks. Holy One, we praise You as our Creator and Savior and we know that You have this entire universe in the palm of Your hand. So if it is Your Will Father we ask for Divine Power for John so his body will vibrate with a new health again so he can do Your work again.

Thank You in advance for Your answer and we ask this in the Name of Jesus Christ our Savior,
Amen

God Bless you

Strangely, I heard about that at work.. Ahh the adventist system.. We weren't told how serious it was, just that it was serious, he was in hospital and he'd broken his neck and not realised for a while. Please be assured that many prayers have been offered on his behalf, he is remembered in our staff prayer circle, and I'm going to make it a point to pray for him too.
May God be with you, keep you strong and give you peace and comfort knowing that he is looking after your father, and he is looking after you too. The devil usually only bothers with the ones he sees as a threat.. Your dad has done a lot for so many, and I'm sure that many people are supporting him and you in prayer at this time.
Be Blessed!

Hello Everyone,

I have just got off the phone from talking to Dad. I read to him the prayers and messages, and he said to say thank you so much. He has had a good day but he has spiked a temperature, this time everyone jumped into action and have started him on antibiotics etc.

Dad is so touched that you are taking time to pray for him and also post the messages and prayers.

Thank you all so much.

I was at the youth rally that he preached at just after his injury. Dr. Hammond was such a blessing that day.

When I read your post to Dad, he said that he was not happy with how he preached that day, that he really felt unwell (surprise surprise) and that he did the people who listened a disservice, so he was pleased to hear that he was a blessing to someone.

his sermon at the youth rally was REALLY fantastic, my boyfriend and i have managed to remember a lot of it and it was 2 months or so ago.
he has been on the prayer list at our church and have been trying to remember him in our prayers.

Thank you so much for that! We cannot thank everyone enough for keeping him in your prayers. Everyday is a miracle that he is with us, and he continues to get stronger every day. Hopefully they will be removing the halo in a week!

I will be ringing Dad in an hour and I will pass along your message.

Once again, thank you so much!

God is truly Amazing

Well, I happen to know your Dad very well.

He gave my reference when I was young man. Taught me at JMV's.

Very sorry to hear that and pass my regards onto him and will tell my Church and will pray for him.

Although our Church is small in number we still brought John's story before them and at Sabbath School and Church he was mentioned in prayer.

Let me encourage every person as the Sabbath comes to each area of the globe to pray for John and his family at this time.

Many may not know him but believe me he is very well liked by all.

I had never heard of him before this was brought to our attention here, but I continue to pray for his recovery. (Sophia7)

That is easy to inderstand as John is an Australian and you live on the other side of the planet. But I can assure you that he is one of the most well know Adventists in our division.

As well as being very well liked.

I go back well over 45 years with him. If I recall correctly he did primary teaching at Avondale College while I was still at school.

Then our paths crossed many times since then.

Thanks so much for the prayer's guys. Sorry I have not been back to update, been a little crook my self.

Dad is going home today! he will continue to have IV antibiotics, a nurse will come out everyday to see him, and the Dr will come out twice a week. He had a few units of blood to pick up the Hb a little, and he is looking forward to getting home.

Once again, thank you for your continued prayer
