  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

A friend has written to me, asking for prayer for her neighbor:

"My neighbor went in the hospital four weeks ago for minor outpatient surgery. She is now on a ventilator and they don't think she is going to make it. She is only 36 and has 3 young children."

Please pray for her.

Her first name is Leigh.

Please pray that God would restore her health, and give her back her life, that she might be able to raise her children.

Thank you so much for your prayers!

I am going to try and get an update on Leigh's condition, and if God is willing, I hope I can tell you she has improved.

So please continue to pray for Leigh(pronounced Lee), how wonderful if her healing could be to the Glory of God, a witness to the power of prayer and God's mercy!

Thank you altya.

I saw a program on TV today that gave me hope for Leigh. It was about a woman who was pronounced dead, and yet, she came back to life. It is truely a miracle story, and a witness to the tremendous power of prayer. Especially the power of prayer when believers join in prayer together! I won't paste all of the story, but here is most of it:

http://cbn.org/700club/features/connie_davis.asp
Paramedics had brought Connie Davis to the emergency room at the River Regional Medical Center about two hours earlier. There, doctors discovered that she had suffered a pulmonary embolism, a blood clot that hit her lung. The trauma from that clot left Connie without blood pressure or pulse, causing her to code.

Dr J.R. "Bob" Ford, Connie's attending physician, recalls the details of that day. "They got her to the emergency room and instituted CPR. For two hours they continued that CPR. We had a heart doctor, a lung doctor, and different doctors coming in and different people doing the code as we went along. Basically, we never were able to get back a blood pressure, pulse, or any objective evidence that she was breathing or alive."

"She was clinically dead," says Dr. Ford. "They had called the code and pronounced her dead."

What hospital officials didn’t realize was that on that Sunday morning, Connie’s friends, family, and church had begun to storm heaven on her behalf.

"I just stopped the service and told the church what was going on and said we’re going to take awhile and intercede for Connie," Rev. Mike Fields told his congregation. "We were interceding that God would spare her life. We were praying against death and praying for life."

Meanwhile, the ER doctor came to the waiting room to tell the family the bad news. Still full of faith, Connie's husband, Tommy, made a request.

"I asked him, 'Could we come in and pray before they call it?' He said yes, we could come in and pray," Tommy recalls.

Thelma Russell, Connie's spiritual mom, recalls praying over Connie. "When I laid my hand on her, she was cold. I said, 'Lord, with long life you promised to satisfy her. Lord, you said you would do her good and not evil, that you would give her an expected end, that your will for her is to live and not die.' When I saw her gripping Tommy’s hand, and mine started shivering like that, I knew that life was coming back into her."

Suddenly, Connie Davis was breathing and her blood pressure was climbing! Doctors and nurses were stunned—including one nurse who had helped with CPR.

"She said, 'Joyce, I have been doing this 28 years and I have never seen anything like it. After those people prayed, she got a pulse!"

Adds Dr. Ford, "All I know is the family went in, and when they came out, the nurses went back in there and she was spontaneously starting to breathe again and began feeling blood pressure and a pulse again."

:clap:Praise God!!

They decided to take Leigh off the respirator. To everyone's surprise, Leigh started breathing on her own!! She breathed on her own for about 2 hours!! She began to get weak, so they put her back on the respirator. That happened Saturday, and now she is up to 8 hours a day breathing on her own!! Praise God!!

And, her family put a pen in her hand to see if she would try to write something. She tried very hard to write, but she was too weak to do it. But this tells me her brain is functioning, which is so totally excellent!!

No one thought she would come out of this, except for a miracle of God. She seems to be gradually improving every day, but she still has a long way to go.

Please continue to pray, your prayers are being answered!! Thank you precious Jesus!!

I am hoping, if it be the will of God, that one day Leigh will be able to come to this thread and write her thank you's to all of you who have so graciously prayed for her. I am feeling very positive about this, God is working a miracle here! Thank you so much!:wave:

Hmm, just so she knows that she has a whole community praying for her, we could all post one quote or verse for her, and you could print it out on a big card and leave it in her hospital room. I think it may help her morale quite a bit. God has given her the second chance to live, now it's up to her, us, and our prayers to decide how long it will take for her to fully recover.

We don't want her giving up! :)

valorJ, that's a wonderful idea!:) Thank you for suggesting it.:) I know her family would be very pleased if we did this. The power of prayer is awesome, and with the addition of healing scriptures, WOW. I think it's a good idea.

Here's my first verse to post:

1 Peter 2:24
Who his own self bare our sins in his own body on the tree, that we, being dead to sins, should live unto righteousness: by whose stripes ye were healed.

What great news Auntie! I will continue to pray for Leigh's healing. God is good!

Here are my verses:

Jesus turned and saw her. "Take heart, daugher," he said, "your faith has healed you". And the woman was healed from that moment.

Matthew 9:22

And the prayer offered in faith will make the sick person well, the Lord will raise him up. If he has sinned, he will be forgiven. Therefore confess your sins to each other and pray for each other so that you maybe be healed. The prayer of a righteous man is powerful and effective.

James 5: 15-16

Sounds good to me, Ann, coz I'm thinking I might try and print out this whole thread(maybe a few days from now), and let the thread itself be a card. That or else cut and paste the prayers and the verses, and print them out.

Any suggestions? Whatcha think?:)
