  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

I was at a Bible study tonight and the speaker brought up an idea that really interested me. He was talking about staying connected with God and he mostly talked about prayer but also brought up the idea of communicating with God through a journal. This interested me so much because I communicate so much better through writing than through speaking. I have a really hard time staying consistent about praying but I am really good about keeping a journal. When I got to thinking about what he said, I realized that when I write in my journal, my thoughts flow a lot like they do when I'm praying. I'm thinking of starting another journal separate from my other one that is exclusively meant for talking to God. Does anyone else communicate with God through a journal more so or instead of praying?

My part-time job is very emotionally draining, and a lot of the time I spend in prayer to try and release some of the pain I might be feeling through my job. I recently started journaling outside of the journal all my friends have access to to sort of eleviate the tension I might be feeling from the emotions at work. I noticed that as I am writing, I want to began writing a letter to God... it truly is an amazing thing. I have since started a journal where I write down what I pray, and it is so refreshing and really helps my mind go to ease.

I've tried it a couple of times but I really dislike writing in general, so it didn't really work for me. Plus, my prayers are private, just between me and God, and I'm somewhat paranoid that someone else would find it and start reading through it. But if it works for you, then go ahead :)

I spend quite a bit of time in prayer (more recently). I used to spend a ton of time everyday in prayer, and then that slowed down, but now I am starting back at it again. I have a journal I write in just about anything, but one of my entries was really long and was just directed to God. I love writing a journal...

I had a friend who had a journal that was just directed to God. It definitely would help to increase time spent with God.
