Inspired by this Sundays Homily, I have been asked to pray to God and ask Him what my talents are that he blessed me with, and then to write about it in my journal, asking myself why have I not used those talents, and if its due to fear, just as in the parable. Also to pray about where and how god can use my talents to serve Him.

This is a prayer for discernment I am inviting everyone to consider, to find and discover the talent god gave them, and how to use it to bring back more for God instead of hiding.

My prayer is for all of us to look into ourselves and ask these questions, finding answers and then to go forth and use our talents to serve God.

A talent was a golden coin in those days.
In the Bible it is used as a metaphor for faith in God.
Some with a little faith bury it, others pursue it and grow in faith.
So i will pray you won't be anxious about finding and using your talents (in the modern meaning of 'things you are good at')

Great question. I'm assuming by talent you're referring to spiritual gifts. My gifts are preaching, exhortation (encouragement) and making disciples (at least that's what I think the Lord's called me to do). Peace in Christ :).

Father, I thank You for the gifts that You give to us all. May You show us what You want us to see concerning them, and how to use them to please You. May You motivate us in the use of these gifts, and may their use be a blessing to us, others, and You. May great things come back to You for Your giving them to us. Amen.

Thank you sister for posing this question. It is a good question to introspectively think on.

Who are we? Why are we here? What is our purpose? How can we be of use for the Kingdom of God?
They are all tied into your original question. As for me i'd say encouragement and loving others, also empathy to a degree is something i am drawn to.
