  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

hey,
yall please pray for my unsaved parents and that God would take the fear out of me I am scared to witness to them because they got really mad the last time I tried to...Whats wrong with me?? I was sitting here think why my parents don't come to church and I remembered that the time they did come my pastor preached about christians slipping in and sitting on the back pew and then slipping out and thats where my parents had chosen to sit and they got offended by it and they refuse to come and I started doing something I have never done before I started trying to blame the pastor....If you do something and you ask God to forgive you but you need to ask a human to forgive you but don't does God still forgive you??

Hi baby girl!
Got here as soon as I got your pm...good question! well first off I want you to know that I am praying for your parents, I hold you in my prayers so naturally I hold them as well. I know it is difficult for you and you want them to be there, but everyone moves at their own pace and learns on their own will. Of course God forgives, and it is good to ask for forgiveness of God, that is important. can you talk to your pastor and tell him of the situation involving your parents? or would you feel uncomfortable? What is the feedback you are given from others at your church? I hope and pray for this situation and for you to feel lightness in your heart, I know how much you love your parents...God Bless you with love and peace! Love ya! I am always here!

I will be praying for your parents of course. And the forgiving part is for sure! Yes we have to forgive and forget <I posted a thread titled just that in Devotions/Quiet Time> as hard as it may be. But we are of the flesh and God knows we are weak at times. He died on the cross for us and by the blood we are forgiven we just have to ask, so the answer is yes...even tho you didn't ask the person/pastor for forgiveness you ask God and thru him you're forgiven. If you felt comfortable talking to the pastor and explaining everything like amie was saying then of course he'd understand and you could then. But only if you feel comfortable. Hope this helps.

i'll be praying. I suppose witnessing may be a form of pushing them towards accepting Christianity, which would make matters worse. Instead, u may try to show them how knowing God has changed your life, keep praying, and see whether they don't mind reading some Christian related materials e.g magazines?

God forgives as long as you're sincere, it's a matter of getting right with God, not with the world.

Remember, you do not have to say a word to witness to someone. The very best witness we have is our actions, who our friends are, the music we listen to, the movies we watch, the love we give to the very ones we are witnessing to. Let Christ work through you. Give up all claim on your life to do and have what you want and He will work absolute miracles through you. Let your parents only see the beauty of Christ. Be obedient and loving in everything they ask of you and they will begin to take your life deeper into their hearts and begin to yearn for what you have.
I will continue to keep you in my prayers Godsgurl.
God Bless you.

I have been doing that for five years along with praying and nothing has happened
I know, but it took me until I was 46 to be saved. Beloved,
be patient. One day you will be glad you did it. Even if they are never saved, you will stand before God as a true disciple of the highest form. You suffered for Christ.
No one will ever be able to say, you did not try.
Also, remember, you will not live with them forever. you will be 18 in less than 4 years. They may very well be saved by then. And you will be the major witness in their lives and be extremely thankful to you.

As a young person there is something about the way your faith shines. God will use you to touch lives. I know you're struggling with your parents. I believe, in spite of the troubles you're having, that God is probably using you right now to shine His light on them and you probably don't even know it. Think about that.
