  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

While training on Monday in the Recovery section at the Rescue Mission, a woman that was new to the program walked through on her way to the reading center asking if anyone had reading glasses. I heard her say that she needed a 1.50 prescription so I took note of it and posted on
later that evening, hoping someone would respond. Not only did someone respond, a lady (new to the area) offered to buy her a pair and deliver them to the Mission! She also included a note to the woman in need.

So as I'm leading bible study at the Mission this evening (with the package ready to deliver once the study was completed), I felt God nudging me to approach her in the dining hall, open my bible, have her put on the glasses and begin reading James 1:17. When the woman finishing reading the verse aloud, she was absolutely beside herself. The other two women with her were all smiles as well.

God is so amazing. Wow, I love this job ...
