  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

i just had to tell y'all ^_^ i got a phonecall from my dad last night. we have had a kind of strained relationship for awhile now (long story) but anyway, i found out that he's moved back to VA from FL so now he's like 3 hours away instead of 18 ^_^ and then we got to tlaking about "changes going on in my life". i was almost scared to tell him my desire to convert but was absolutely amazed at the support i got from both him and my stepmom and that they were so glad to hear I'd left the other church! i was just in shock b/c i expected kind of the reaction that i've gotten used to getting from others but wow!!! i am so happy!!!!

Kim, isn't it wonderful when we receive such an unexpected reaction from our loved one's? I remember talking for a long time with my Mum about the Catholic Church (i didn't want to get into talk's with Dad the agnostic! ((though he used to be athiest so at least that's a step in the right direction))...there has been such a wonderful reaction...we went to eat with them last week and my son said a blessing before we ate...my parent's were very tolerant...and almost tearful...there's nothing like grandparent tears!

I pray that your relationship with your Dad will continue to blossom with peace, understanding and wholesome fruitfulness.

God Bless you.

Kimber,

I am so happy for you! I saw my dad for the first time in years over the Christmas holiday. My dad lives in England and we had led pretty seperate lives but I am so happy we got to spend that time together, there is something so special between a girl and her father and I am glad I got to experience that. I even got my dad to go to church with me!

I will continue to pray for you that your relationship with him continues to strengthen. I am glad you are getting support from your family as well!

Praise God indeed because with HIM ALL things are possible! :prayer:

Christy

PS.

I love all these cute little guys  ;)

I think the Lord will try you at certain times. In your case, with your pastor.

But then I think the Lord rewarded you for being steadfast and strong in front of your pastor -- essentially defending your love for Christ and His Church. He's now working with your family to give you the support you need right now. In essence, the Lord is saying, "See, you defended me in front of those who don't believe in my Church, so I am going to reward you with certain people who you might not expect who will care about you and support you."

thanks y'all! this was truely a blessing for me. i can't get into all the details of it but i have no doubt the Holy Spirit guided this to happen and in the timing that it did as well, in a way to save me from myself. i have no doubt God has plans for me within the Catholic Church and He showed Himself to me in such an amazing way with this situation!

Dad lives so close now (3 hrs instead of 18 i think) that a weekend trip would be a piece of cake and i plan on doing so very soon. they've never even seen their newest grandson (now almost 4) and what a heartwarming meeting that will be!!
