  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Romans 6:13 And do not present your members as instruments of unrighteousness
to sin, but present yourselves to God as being alive from the dead, and your members
as instruments of righteousness to God.

G3696 - hoplon - Strong's Greek Lexicon (kjv)

Instruments of Righteousness are weapons.

2 Corinthians 10:
4
For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal but mighty in God
for pulling down strongholds,
5 casting down arguments and every high thing that exalts itself against
the knowledge of God, bringing every thought into captivity to
the obedience of Christ.

Weapons of Righteousness are also defensive armor.
2 Corinthians 6:7 by the word of truth, by the power of God, by
the armor of righteousness on the right hand and on the left.

Ephesians 6:
10
Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord and in the power of His might.
11 Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the
wiles of the devil.
12 For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities,
against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this age, against spiritual
hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places.
13 Therefore take up the whole armor of God, that you may be able to withstand
in the evil day, and having done all, to stand.

To practice righteousness is to love as He Loved
1 Timothy 1:
5
Now the end of the commandment is love out of a pure heart, and of a good
conscience, and of faith unfeigned.

This is His Commandment
1 John
3:23
And this is His commandment: that we should believe on the name of His
Son Jesus Christ and love one another, as He gave us commandment.
4:21 And this commandment we have from Him: that he who loves God
love his brother also.

By the power of the Holy Spirit, we overcome the power of sin and death
for
one reason...that we may love one another.
This is to practice righteousness, and well pleasing to our Father.

John 15:
9
As the Father loved Me, I also have loved you; abide in My love.
10 If you keep My commandments, you will abide in My love, just as
I have kept My Father’s commandments and abide in His love.

11 These things I have spoken to you, that My joy may remain in you,
and your joy may be full.

12 This is My commandment, that you love one another as I have loved you.
13 Greater love has no one than this, than to lay down one’s life for his friends.
14 You are My friends if you do whatever I command you.

Jesus gave us a "new commandment" to love:

"A new commandment I give unto you, That ye love one another; as I have loved you, that ye also love one another." John 13:34

But it was the same as the old commandment:

"And now I beseech thee, lady, not as though I wrote a new commandment unto thee, but that which we had from the beginning, that we love one another." 2 John 1:5

Restated as new because of the new priesthood:

"For the priesthood being changed, there is made of necessity a change also of the law." Hebrews 7:12

Jesus Christ the same yesterday, and to day, and for ever. Hebrews 13:8
