  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Hi Shine! Almost our entire family went to The Power of One last night. It was the first time. I've been a huge fan of Rebecca St. James for a long time & was thrilled to see her perform live & in person. I thought her message of saving yourself until marriage was neat - and encouraging girls to wear a purity ring - how cool! Bob Smiley was hilarious, wasn't he? ^_^

Yes, indeed the Newsboys ROCKED! "Glory, glory....hallelujah...He REIGNS!". I was blown away by not just their music, but the leader singer's witnessing as well. How powerful! I loved what he had to say - it brought tears to my eyes. Our 13-year-old son loved the entire concert (he liked seeing "Pillar" earlier in the day, and ended up in the "Mosh Pit" for most of the evening, lol!).

Guess what? I even went away from the event sponsoring a child in Ecuador! We "adopted" a little boy who is 10 years old. :)

Praise God! What a great event! We hope to go again next year.

Hi SuzQ!
Rebecca St. James was really good - I hadn't heard anything by her, or so I thought, but I recognized a few of the songs as songs I really liked.
Reggie Dabbs, the speaker, was really good too, I thought. I've never heard him before but I thought he did a really good job.
And that's awesome that you are sponsoring a child! Wow! That's very neat.

Oh, yes, Reggie was something else!! That story about the girl finally returning home & singing Christmas songs with her father made me cry like a baby! What a neat story & wonderful message about forgiveness.

We just sent our sponsored child a Christmas card, letter, and pictures of our family. I hope he gets it soon - I don't know how long things take to get to Ecuador, as they go to the Compassion office first, so they can review (and/or translate) the materials & send them on. I'm hoping it doesn't take them too long, because I actually wrote the whole letter in Spanish myself! :) (I'm semi-fluent & then cheated by using the internet for the stuff I forgot, lol!).
