Mine is fixing to. Here when you're getting ready to do something it's fixing to. Used in a sentence it would be:

"I'm fixing to wash the car."

I know, not exactly grammatically correct, but that's what's fun about it. So, post your own favorite Texas sayings. Or even short, interesting stories that have been passed down to you. ^_^ :D

"Shoot fahr!" or its censored cousin. By the way that is "fahr" as in, "We had a big bonfahr after the game." I grew up a bit north of Texas, 10 miles east of the H.E. Bailey, on the Washita.

I live in Michigan, now, but I still have a heavy Texan accent. The funny thing is, I took a trip back to Texas a few months ago, and I noticed all those accent I never noticed before....but for some reason, I haven't lost mine.

Words with the letter "i" are the ones that I have the most trouble with. When I asked my mother in law (Illinois) if she had a Bible, she looked really confused and stared at me for a minute. Then she said, "What's a bobble?"

And...when I asked a guy from Kansas once what
kind of coke he wanted, he said,"ummmmm...diet?"

I didn't realize that in other states, it's called "pop" and "soda".

I just can't bring myself to say "pop" like everyone else
does up here....it sounds way too weird.

"a fur piece" (a far distance to travel). Everything's a fur piece in Texas.

And if you’ve traveled most of the distance, you’re “purt near” there.
