  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Hey,

What are some good pads/panty liners you ladies recommend for the bleeding after baby? And do most bleed A LOT or is it similar to a typical medium/heavy flow period... that lasts longer?

When does the regulated period usually come back into play? I haven't been regular for years, and was actually in the process of trying to figure out why when the results of an ultrasound showed I was 7 weeks preggo! :) SO, I wouldn't mind not having regular period again, lol, as long as I can still have another baby if I want to. :)

The first day the flow is very heavy-- heavier than your heaviest period....they will give you special pads in the hospirtal. After that first (at most second day)- you can just use whatever pads you use regualrly. I like the ultra thin ones with wings.

When your menses returns will depend on lots of factors. Typically if you are nursing your menses will be delayed longer than if you are bottle feedin, your menses will be delayed longer if you withhold artificial nipples, if baby is not sleeping through the night, if baby hasn't had colds. However- even with all those things your menses can retun anywhere from 4 weeks to around 18 months.

i think everyone is different. For me i had extremely heavy bleeding for a few days, then i had like bad period bleeding for a couple weeks, then it went down to lighter bleeding...i bled for 7 straight weeks after the delivery. My period came back when my son was turning 4 mos old and i was breastfeeding..lol..i dont know..some are luckier than others i guess.

i bleed heavily for about a week, then lightly for about another week, it was gone by 3wks, then some light spotting came back for another week... not too bad.
I didn't have a period until my daughter was almost 11mths old, i b/f until 8.5mths. A friend of mine got hers 28days from the birth of her children (3)!! Just depends on the person!

no-one told me you could bleed for so long after having the baby lol oh well can't do anything about that now!!!!

I don't mind if my period comes back sooner rather than later. The longer my period stays away for the longer we'll have to use condoms for - yuck lol

Mine was like a heavy to normal period for the first three weeks, then it tapered for the next three weeks to very little. As for the return of menses, with my first four, I returned 6 weeks after birth and with the fifth, about 3 months. It did turn out that I was low thyroid, so that might have slowed it down. They were all breastfed, most of them exclusively and all of them on demand...

Really, everyone is different.

Some women on a pregnancy board somewhere else recommended Depends for the first few days home. They didn't want to have to worry about trying to fit right back into their old undies, or about staining them.
