• Starting today August 7th, 2024, in order to post in the Married Couples, Courting Couples, or Singles forums, you will not be allowed to post if you have your Marital status designated as private. Announcements will be made in the respective forums as well but please note that if yours is currently listed as Private, you will need to submit a ticket in the Support Area to have yours changed.

  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Positive elements to the new format

The "New Posts" tab under "Forums" now auto refreshes, I like that.

Being able to remove the side panel was helpful, but I think that feature was removed. I'll keep an eye out for it.

Being able to post by typing at the top of the subforum, is a useful new feature.

Being able to toggle the width of the viewing area is also nice. ( those 3 small dots in the upper right corner next to the search feature, which is next to your name).
That's where the "toggle sidebar" feature is. thanks.

I used it once, but then couldn't find it until you posted.

Autorefresh seems good. I've only been here in the new format a few posts, so I don't yet get all the aspects.

It seems like maybe 'recent activity' and 'new posts' are about the same. Is that right? Or what is the difference?

Even though I liked to be able to see all the new threads quickly in 1 page and now that seems gone, I still think I like this change. Well, ask me tomorrow.

But for now it seems there is one great improvement. In the old format, one person could 10 or more in a row to dominate the new area. But now, instead of someone being able to elbow everyone out of the 'new' area by making 15 new posts in a row (actually 15 or more I've seen too many times), now that won't be possible it seems. If that's correct, it seems a very helpful improvement, and will more than offset the inconvenience of having to go further to find new threads. Maybe it's not like I'm thinking, because I'm still trying out things.

Ah, now I see that old problem of one person being able to plaster a dozen or more new posts in a row is still possible, under the 'threads' button. Oh well.

So, there's something for the Admins to fix somehow, maybe with a daily new thread limit.
