Pops? Classical?

Last night we went to a concert entitled, An Evening At the Pops.

Some of the pieces played were by Gershwin or Berlin; but included were what I would call Classical pieces.

Like: Concerto for Violin, Piano & Strings in D minor by Mendelesohn and aother was: Concerto for Violin and Oboe in C minor by Bach.

I wouldn't think that this was really entirely a "Pops" concert. Was it? How do they differ? Or can they be interchanged and still it's a Pops concert? hmmmmm.

I'm pretty sure you're right, in that as long as they have some pops pieces, they can still call it that.
