CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Im in the not spanked camp. I was never hit. I dont want to get too serious, but I do not think it is a good parenting practice. Its not necessary to keep the discipline.

I was a few times. My parents didn't use it often but when they did they were clear on why I was being spanked and they were never violent or mean about it. I learned my lesson pretty quickly and never made the same mistake twice.

Yep. I was spanked a lot lol. I was a very good kid unless my brother was around, he was wild and goofy and his behavior was contagious. We got spanked together a lot lol.

I was spanked at the thought of possible wrong doing. The ones I deserve didn't bother me. The ones I didn't deserve irritated me to no end. Dad was a bully growing up and his bullying and manipulation didn't end til he died.

I'm so sorry.
My dad spanked me only once in his life. But, I deserved that because I really, really acted up! I'll never forget that day and he doesn't either. SOmetimes we talk about it and he tells me he felt like the worst man in the world for doing that.
